Fire salamanders live mainly in the forests of Central Europe.
As adults, fire salamanders are largely independent of surface waters and lead a hidden existence in niches of caves, under dead wood and tree stumps, between rocks and log piles, and in the gap system of the ground. For females, proximity to spawning waters plays an important role in habitat selection, along with the presence of daytime hiding places.
Burn baby Burn! ....looks worse than it actually is ... a controlled burn to reduce some undergrowth and diseased area.
Spotted while in Wyoming last week.

Zwischen Korb und Hülle befindet sich der Antrieb, das Brennersystem. Ein Doppelbrenner erzeugt eine viele Meter hohe und ca. 1.800 °C heiße Flamme, die mit ca. 5.000 PS die für den Auftrieb notwendige heiße Luft in der Hülle erzeugt. Gespeist wird der Brenner aus den Propangasflaschen im Korb.

Nemateleotris magnifica, known by a variety of common names including fire goby, magnificent fire fish, fire dartfish, or red fire goby is a species of dartfish native to the Indian and Pacific oceans from the eastern coast of Africa to the Hawaiian Islands and from the Austral Islands north to the Ryukyu Islands. It is an inhabitant of coral reefs where it can be found at depths of from 6 to 70 metres (20 to 230 ft). It is usually found just above the bottom, facing into the current, where it awaits its prey of small invertebrates.
They usually have a bright yellow head, merging into a white body, gradually shading into a red-orange tail. Their dorsal fins are very long, and the fish flicks it back and forth. This is used as a signal to other members of its group. As a full grown adult, it reaches a maximum length of 9 centimetres (3.5 in). Adults occupy sandy burrows alone or in pairs, while the juveniles live in small groups. These fish are monogamous. They will retreat to burrows if threatened. Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest state park in Nevada, USA and was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968. It covers an area of almost 42,000 acres (17,000 ha) and was dedicated in 1935. It derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.
Valley of Fire is located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas, at an elevation between 2,000–2,600 feet (610–790 m). It abuts the Lake Mead National Recreation Area at the Virgin River confluence. It lies in a 4 by 6 mi (6.4 by 9.7 km) basin.
Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape. The rough floor and jagged walls of the park contain brilliant formations of eroded sandstone and sand dunes more than 150 million years old. Other important rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates.
The park entry from Interstate 15 passes through the Moapa Indian Reservation. The park has a visitor center that should be visited by anyone planning any off-road activities.
The site is marked as Nevada Historical Marker #150.

J'ai retrouvé un série de diapositives (Ektachrome) prises lors de mon stage ouvrier en 1971 effectué dans l'aciérie Röchling à Völklingen en Sarre.
Ici, la fonte en fusion sort du gueulard et s'écoule via des rigoles ménagées dans le sol vers des cuves montées sur des wagons, qui étaient situées à l'"étage" inférieur. La fonte était ensuite transportée vers les convertisseurs de l'aciérie.
Le plus gros risque à ces postes était la "percée": au lieu de suivre docilement le chemin ouvert par la perceuse (die Bohrmaschine), la fonte se créait sa propre issue dans le revêtement réfractaire du haut fourneau et une "jolie" cascade incandescente imprévue se mettait à arroser les ouvriers...
Les derniers hauts fourneaux ont cessé de travailler depuis longtemps, en France comme en Allemagne.
