We were instructed to look at the still life set up and keep our eyes off the page, hence why its called drawing blind, and draw along the lines, in a continuous line as we saw them.

The aim was to begin to see where the lines really meet and cross, instead of where we imagine them to be.

Next we were told to draw using our other hand, in my case my left, and this time to try and see where the lines were connected, the empty space, and to imagine a grid placed over the still life so we could see where objects lined up.

As you can see I started too far over on the left, so its in two parts.

Its amazing how much clearer you can breakdown the still life into lines when you use your other hand. Things start to look more defined and I started to distance myself more from the view, and pick out lines and objects and draw them as they appeared, not as my brain had wanted to translate them.

We were given no instructions, only to start drawing what we saw on the table in front of us, for the teacher to get a view of our individual skills.
