On a lovely sunny morning, NRZ (National Railways of Zimbabwe) 424 (formerly numbered 404) "Isilwane/Lion" is seen on Friday August 11th 2006, with a 0800 mixed charter train from Figtree to Bulowayo in Zimbabwe.
NRZ (National Railways of Zimbabwe) 424 is a 15th Class 4-6-4+4-6-4 Garratt built in 1952 by Beyer, Peacock & Co for Rhodesian Railways.
Fortunately for us & despite the very dry conditions, the train ran without a diesel doing all the work, unlike the "Fake Steam" currently seen in the UK!

Interior shot of my Kindle cover from some Breakfast at Tiffany's fabrics. It's my own design, with a magnetic flap closure. Like it? I could make one just for you, in colors or fabrics you choose. Convo me or email me!
Carols was a joy tonight - God provided some pretty speccy weather, the good citizens of Wollongong provided a great crowd - and the saints at Figtree served their hearts out. Top work to all - including those who manned the Lost Children recovery van..
More images from the roughly 500 I took to come ;-)
Made with a fresh cottons jelly roll (fig tree quilts for moda). We'll be teaching a class on this apron at Suppose this Summer.
I stood inside the tree and shot outward. We make a lot of things from the figs, such as fig butter, stewed figs and apples and dried figs. We get two harvests per year and get lots of figs each time. The deep purple figs are the ones that are ripe. The purple and green ones are half ripe.
