The TENIO system is a modular gel-sealed fiber closure system designed for use in outside plant fiber access (distribution, drop) networks. With TENIO, CommScope created a fiber closure system that allows installers to completely remove its outer housings, base and dome, even when cables are installed or when the closure is already mounted. TENIO’s tool-less gel-sealed design provides easy installation as well as 360-degree access to the fibers inside, enabling faster installations and improved fiber management. Embracing all above features and being 30 percent smaller to fit existing infrastructure, the total cost of ownership is less expensive than other fiber closure systems.
CommScope’s fiber indexing portfolio is a solution for deploying FTTx in areas with high labor costs for splicing. Fiber indexing can reduce deployment time by up to 75 percent by eliminating splicing. In addition, it minimizes cable lengths for up to 70 percent savings, eliminates cable congestion at the Fiber Distribution Hub, and simplifies inventory management by reducing the number of discrete components needed. Robert "Bob" Helming is the owner of Southern Montana Telephone Company in Wisdom, Montana. SMT is the oldest locally owned telephone company in Montana, and has been owned by the Helming family since 1907. Southern Montana Telephone Company (SMT) will use a $3.3 million ReConnect Program grant to construct a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Beaverhead County. The 1,688-square-mile service area includes 109 households, 26 farms and ranches, seven businesses and the Grant Fire Station. Improved broadband access in Beaverhead County will make a significant impact on agricultural and small businesses. Farmers and ranchers will be able to monitor their operations in real time and use high-speed internet to buy, sell or trade livestock.

The development of the FDH was a key enabler for the growth of Fiber-to-the-Home networks. The OSP cross connect cabinets that were available prior to the FDH did not lend themselves to be properly configured for FTTH. The FDH was designed to be FTTH specific, providing a secure OSP interface for fiber splitters and distribution. Being a key supplier to the major network providers during the explosive FTTH rollout provided critical revenue during a challenging business environment. The current CommScope FDH products incorporate many innovations from legacy acquired companies such as ADC; a true hybrid of technology from multiple sources that has been infused into the product line.
