Dall’apertura della Galleria di Base del Gottardo, la stazione di Biasca ha sicuramente perso buona parte del suo traffico. D’altra parte viene ancora utilizzata regolarmente come binario di sorpasso per i treni merci che escono dal tunnel e lasciano la precedenza a quelli passeggeri. Inoltre, alcuni treni merci nazionali servono ancora Biasca regolarmente. Un esempio è questo convoglio diretto all’area industriale di Bodio, che attraversa la Galleria, raggiunge Biasca e inverte qui la direzione di marcia per gli ultimi chilometri di viaggio.
Seit der Eröffnung des Gotthard-Basistunnels hat der Bahnhof Biasca zwar einen grossen Teil seines Verkehrs verloren. Andererseits wird er nach wie vor regelmässig als Überholgleis für die aus dem Tunnel ausfahrenden Güterzüge genutzt, wobei den Personenzügen Vorrang eingeräumt wird. Ausserdem wird Biasca noch regelmässig von einigen inländischen Güterzügen angefahren. Ein Beispiel dafür ist diese Leistung für das Industriegebiet von Bodio, der den Tunnel durchquert, Biasca erreicht und hier für die letzten Kilometern seiner Fahrt die Richtung wechselt.

What an insane idea it must have been to build a railway bridge only a few meters upstream of one of Europe's biggest waterfalls. But back in 1856, when environmentalism was not a big deal, nearly everything was possible. And after all, the bridge was built in a solid way and is still carrying heavy trains over the roaring river more than 150 years later.
After a long dry period in spring and summer 2018, "only" 300 m³ water per second were rushing over the rocks - roughly half of the usual amount. Nevertheless, the deep blue water, the green trees and the white foam formed a wonderful stage for the last class Re 420 push-pull-train of the day. Offering more seats than the usual class RABe 526 EMUs, this trainset works a few S33 services between Winterthur and Schaffhausen during peak hour. In December 2018, they will be replaced by DPZ trainsets along with the extension of the S12 line to Schaffhausen.

Con la continua diminuzione di treni trainati da locomotiva nella lunga percorrenza delle FFS, anche il fabbisogno di Re 420 è andato costantemente riducendosi negli ultimi anni. A partire dal 2022 alcune locomotive sono passate a FFS Cargo o locate esternamente, come in questo caso a Trans Rail. Proprio due di queste macchine, che con il loro pantografo a rombo fanno una particolare figura davanti a un treno merci, si approcciano a Niederglatt.
Da die Zahl der lokbespannten Züge im Fernverkehr der SBB weiter abnimmt, ist auch der Bedarf an Re 420 in den letzten Jahren stetig gesunken. Ab 2022 wurden einige Lokomotiven an SBB Cargo abgegeben oder extern vermietet, wie in diesem Fall an Trans Rail. Genau zwei dieser Maschinen, die mit ihren Scherenstromabnehmer vor einem Güterzug einen besonderen Eindruck machen, nähern sich Niederglatt.

A FFS ETR610 passes quickly in the pretty station of Meina, along the Simplon railway, between the characteristics palm that beautify this train-stop. The convoy was heading towards Milan main station with EC 39 from Geneve.

Nestling between the Cotswolds and the Berkshire Downs, this event is uniquely spectacular. There will be three routes of varying difficulty - a gently challenging 35-miler, a 70-miler, and a testing 100-miler. With flat bits between some impressive hills, our environment creates opportunities for most levels of cyclists to enjoy and, if desired, extend themselves. The start times will be staggered so that participants will finish around lunch time to share their experiences in an attractive courtyard. The accent will, as usual, be on friendliness and proper food along the route and at the end.

the black specks on this are actually on the negative. the shop I go to is in complete denial about the fact their machines totally and permanently ruin some of my photographs. for example one thing the lady said it could be was 'a mark on the lense'. I've been taking my photos to get developed there for three years - do they think I'm fucking stupid and don't know what lens marks look like? another is 'dust on the negative' - you think I haven't checked the negative first?? why would you be printing negs with fucking dust on anyway? I'm paying you for prints here. the marks are never usually as bad as this, I mean this obviously takes the absolute piss. often they are fine, sometimes a tiny mark on one neg thats mostly unnoticeable. I'm angry because I've given them so much frequent business and this is what they're giving me back after all this time.
I'm going to have serious words with them one day this week, really interested to see how they're going to talk themselves out of this particular butchered photograph.
