I don't blame you if you think I have gone off the deep end. Capturing a copy of reality is not compelling to me at this time. As a jumping off point, I adore the beauty of nature, but in terms of inner exploration, I want to delve deeper. I am on a journey.

Thanks to Charlotte for her comment below. Of course, we are all on a journey. I can only speak for myself. :)))

Thanks to all of you who comment and fave these exploratory images. You keep me going. :)))

This scene astounds me every year.

The elegant fern unfolding.

It goes from one day looking very 'un alive', no green to be spotted, to suddenly waking up.

Love to find fern's, in this Stage of Growth.

I got caught in a heavy rain shower yesterday so stood under these wonderful tree ferns till it subsided, it didn't though and I got saturated walking back!

The fern tip was reaching out over a drop down to the river. I wish I could have gotten a little closer, but like the bokeh effect.

One of my early digital shots that helped to renew my passion for photography (especially B&W) after years of snapshot pics of the kids growing up.

This morning I find myself back in Fern Canyon. This is the entrance or the exit for the Canyon. In this case I snapped the image as I was leaving so I guess that makes it the exit. Whatever, this is might be one of the most beautiful places on this earth that I have witnessed--a place I will never forget. Not only are you surrounded by a peaceful green mat of ferns hanging from every wall in the canyon, but immediately on the other side of that final bend lies the Pacific Ocean. The best of all worlds.

Found myself back at this patch of ferns last week and couldn't resist giving them a go with the ole iPhone...

I'm a pinch behind but looking forward to catching up with everyone later today. Hope you all are having, or had as the case may be, a great weekend!

Spent an enjoyable, albeit challenging morning with some great friends and fellow photographers. Both the wind and the light were a challenge to work with. Once set up on a composition, you could expect to wait ten to fifteen minutes for a lull in the wind that would last only a few seconds, and you had to hope that you had cloud cover at the same time. It's good to be challenged on occasion.

The spring "fiddleheads" of the interrupted fern are covered in fuzz when they first emerge in the spring. These were photographed in Perrot State Park near Trempealeau, Wisconsin. Interesting fact: Fossil records show that interrupted ferns have remained unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs. Wish I could say the same!
