Elbows up is a Canadian hockey expression, which has become a galvanising force across Canada in the face of Donald Trump's ridiculous tariffs and trade war.
The expression refers to dropping the gloves and raising your arms just before a fight. We didn't ask for this trade war, but you can bet your life we won't back down.
For Americans who may not fully understand what is going on, here's a breakdown in three points.
1. Trump's tariffs made us mad.
2. Trump's threats to our sovereignty made us go ballistic.
3. All this was started, unprovoked, by the United States.
We have been the United States' staunchest ally, helping fight wildfires most recently in California, hurricane recovery (Katrina) and assorted other natural disaster power failures. We stood side by side with US troops in Afghanistan, two World Wars, Korea and took in, fed and sheltered over 30,000 American citizens when the US government shut down US airspace after 9-11. To us, this tariffs, trade war, annexation talk has felt like a stab in the back. In simple terms, the US government has taken a long standing mutually beneficial partnership and pissed all over it... for no good reason.
We are retaliating with dollar for dollar reciprocal tariffs of our own. We are the biggest importer of US alcohol and beer in the world- all that has been removed from our shelves. We supply 40% of US oil, 98% of US natural gas and 40% of US aluminium, plus we are the US' largest outside supplier of steel and softwood lumber. All these are now under threat. No one in our federal or provincial governments relishes taking these steps, but we won't just roll over and take these threats and abuses passively.
There is a massive, organic movement across Canada to boycott American products that is gaining traction very quickly. Never have I seen so many people look at products in grocery stores as to their origin and put them back if they were from the US. Canadians are the largest group of tourists to the US with over 23 million visits last year. Many, many people are now cancelling all travel plans to the US. Yes, we are taking these threats very seriously.
Our new Prime Minister-designate, Mark Carney, has said we can no longer trust the United States as a reliable friend or ally. This is the state we are all now in.
Sorry for the long winded rant, but watching US television media report so many inaccuracies and outright lies about this situation is maddening and frustrating. I'm hoping this may clear up some inaccuracies. Oh and the fentanyl threat from Canada? Bogus. US Border Security seized 43 lbs of fentanyl in 2024; meanwhile well over 800 lbs came from the US into Canada.

of the East Village.
She gives psychotic speeches

Severely thought disordered
Uber preoccupied with paranoid
delusions from politics to
sexual trauma.
Probably a classic case of Paranoid Schizophrenia with persecutory delusions. Whats more interesting to me is that there is no indication of substance abuse.

Rizzbot who is a viral humanoid robot, officially named Jake, known for wearing a cowboy hat and sunglasses, roaming streets (like Austin and LA) to flirt, dance, and use slang, gaining massive social media fame. It's a modified Unitree G1 robot, operated remotely by a human who programs its "rizz" and moves, blending pre-programmed actions with AI-powered voice/camera interactions to create viral content.

The Cooper Union speech was delivered by Abraham Lincoln on February 27, 1860, at Cooper Union, in New York City. Lincoln was not yet the Republican nominee for the presidency, as the convention was scheduled for May. It is considered one of his most important speeches. Some historians have argued that the speech was responsible for his victory in the presidential election later that year.
In the speech, Lincoln elaborated his views on slavery by affirming that he did not wish it to be expanded into the western territories and claiming that the Founding Fathers would agree with this position. The journalist Robert J. McNamara wrote, "Lincoln's Cooper Union speech was one of his longest, at more than 7,000 words. And it is not one of his speeches with passages that are often quoted. Yet, due to the careful research and Lincoln's forceful argument, it was stunningly effective.

The alley between Columbia & Carrall Streets south of East Hastings St. is a stretch of well-worn laneway locals call “Crack Alley.” The laneway is behind Overdose Prevention Society’s supervised injection site and the Downtown Eastside Street (DTES) Market,
Crack Alley is one of the busier alleys in the neighbourhood, filled with garbage, the stench of urine, rampant drug use and overdoses.
Crack Alley Mural Project brings some colour to the area with a series of message-filled murals and memorials depicting everything from robots and geishas to hypodermic needles and the life-saving powers of NARCAN and Naloxone kits.
Graffiti vandals are also at work defacing the murals.
A Vancouver Overdose Prevention site located at 58 East Hastings St. is operated by the Vancouver Overdose Prevention Society, a not-for-profit organization that oversees hundreds of consumptions daily.
The society began as a tent designated for safe consumption and overdose prevention, and was one of the initial community-led responses to the opioid crisis in British Columbia.
Overdose Prevention Society is staffed by volunteers trained in administering naloxone (Narcan) and CPR.
The sites offer take-home fentanyl test strips so drug users can check their drugs for contamination at home.
The society also advocates for more sanctioned safe injection sites and a better government response to the overdose crisis.
The sites also serve as a warming centre overnight when temperatures drop. Warming centres are activated when the temperature reaches -5°C or below (or it feels like -5°C or below).

Many out of towners with opioid and other drug addictions come to Manhattan and other parts of New York City from out of town to buy use and sleep off drugs. Factors attracting individuals to the city include access to a larger drug supply, a perceived greater tolerance for drug use, and access to services. These visitors are often found near major transit hubs like Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Generally Amish do not wear jewelry because it is seen as a form of vanity and worldliness, contrary to their values of humility and simplicity.
This practice is rooted in their interpretation of biblical teachings that emphasize inner beauty over outward adornment: the prohibition against jewelry includes rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.
Their financial approach emphasizes practicality, community support, and avoiding worldly extravagance.

Bogart most definitely has pain. That is undeniable, and yet he still loves life and still loves to run and play. We have the option of increasing the frequency and dose of his tramadol or changing to fentanyl patches. I'd love to have him pain free. However, if Bogart is pain free he is much more likely to break the leg with the tumor (they break easily). That would end his freedom and force us to make a very difficult decision all too soon. So we have a delicate balance. As long as Bogart loves life, we will walk the fine line between comfort and risk.

This is where he chooses to sleep, eat and gesticulate bizarrely from time to time.
He tolerates freezing temperatures with the clothes on his back and a not so warm looking blanket.
I am assuming his bizarre actions are guided by auditory hallucinations.
Ive never seen him smile, talk to anyone, or panhandle.
He will on occasion stop at a public wireless charging station or wireless charging kiosk and punch the buttons incessantly as if he is making a phone call and then........... quietly moves on.
He will eat out of garbage bins.
I am 100 percent sure he is Schizophrenic.
I have never seen him drinking alcohol or using drugs.
His demeanor affect and behavior usually remains the same.
He held out his left arm for several minutes staring into space on this cold pre winter day so this caught my attention.
