This is "Fat Bear Week".
In a nutshell, Fat Bear Week is a March Madness-style popularity contest for Katmai National Park’s now-famous brown bears. It got its start in 2014 as a fun way to promote the park and its bears. The contest has become very popular, with thousands of people voting each day during the weeklong "contest".
One of the contestants is 747, pictured here. At his peak, his weight has been estimated at 1,400 pounds. 747 is my favorite, primarily due to the fact that he's the only contestant that I was able to photograph during our visit in 2021.
Congrats to Mark Putman who correctly guessed the answer to my "fat" clue yesterday.
My last post for a week. We're taking off for another Badlands adventure.
This beautiful cat lived in one of the shops in downtown Grand Rapids. I took his photo during ArtPrize2015, while we were in the shop looking at art that was displayed there. I shot this with my older DLSR camera which I haven't used since I went mirrorless.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)

A chicken sticker spotted on a lamppost that looks hand-drawn with a brush, among other random stickers. Coincidentally, the Fat Chicken fast food shop is only about a hundred metres away.

Our squirrels here in Austin suffer from a little bit of an obesity problem.. semi tame, fat and happy.
Kind of surprised that this made Explore... But happy.
You think I'm fat? My ass is too big? That's ok! I love me!
Imagine a road trip and the road had no curves. It'd be pretty boring! Lift each other up and straighten the other's crown! It won't hurt, I promise! Keep shining! ♥

Thank you Wikipedia...
"When the Mexican American War began General John S Williams took command. At the battle of Cerro Gordo (Mexico) he led the troops in a victory over Mexican troops. He took the nickname of "Cerro Gordo" Williams. After the battle, he returned to Illinois and settled in Bement. About the same time (1855) the people of the town of Griswold chose to move the town from the stagecoach line along the river to the path of the Great Western Railroad. The town was platted by Sheridan Wait and Henry Durfee. "Cerro Gordo" Williams was one of the citizens, as they had other citizens that fought in the battle of Cerro Gordo, they selected the name Cerro Gordo."
Hmmm, I always wondered.
🇬🇧 Fat? Who is fat? I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!
Alpine marmots (Marmota marmota) are foodies and they need their fat reserves to survive the winter which lasts about 6 months in the high mountains.
🇩🇪 Dick?
A rather large and fat Van Gogh Sunflower. This one was perhaps 18- 20 inches in diameter. That's forn behind it. We planted 4-5 rows of field corn around the sunflower field to keep the deer out. Seems to have worked. Thanks for the look and have a great evening.
