Two of my favourite faeries :)

Trying to get back into portraiture, I did a photo shoot for a friend and had some luck shooting this young lady.

Leila's senior portrait if she were a faerie of the upland hardwood forest. Tunica Falls/Clark Creek Nature Area, Mississippi. Nov 2014

Nothing remotely clever about this, I just liked the colour of the seed beads with the Czech glass. Simply strung on a piece of memory wire I found in my stash. Hard to see from the photo, but the Czech glass has a lovely mottled mossy effect.

Photographed during a walk around the city of Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Ban Krud beach is under the magical protection of Wat Tang Sai (วัดทางสาย) which sits high upon Khao Thong Chai, Prachuap Khiri Khan, looking like a fairy-tale castle.

the trees in the foreground were covered with hoarfrost, making an ethereal constrast against the dark evergreens in the background. Breathtaking!

Wanda and Kevin hit the road for a weekend-long journey into the Northwoods of Minnesota for a rendezvous with the Radical Faeries.

A winged faerie found in a cemetery in Hollywood

The beautiful landscape of faerie glen on the Isle of Skye was the most surreal place I have ever been. It truly felt like you were transported to a different world!

"Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,

For I would ride with you upon the wind,

Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,

And dance upon the mountains like a flame."

~William Butler Yeats, "The Land of Heart's Desire," 1894

The Peatbog Faeries play The Old Fire Station, Carlisle, Cumbria

The Peatbog Faeries are a largely instrumental Celtic fusion band. Formed in 1991, they are based in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Their music embodies many styles and influences, including folk, electronica, rock and jazz, - but their main influence is traditional celtic music. The band's unique sound is created through a mix of programmed effects and traditional celtic arrangements, played on bagpipes, fiddles, and whistles.

The band have twice won "Live Band of the Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and were nominated for "Live Band of the Year" at the BBC Radio 2 folk awards.

Lately I have been stressed about some work related problems. It is not a good use of my time, but when I am stressed, I tend to want to disappear. One way I can do that is by creating artistic graphic images of the fantastic. Lately, this has focused around fantasy-world women. I have always found the women in fantasy novels interesting: full of magic and power. I guess I am wishing I had a little magic in my life right now.

These are some faerie ladies I made (not all finished), plus an adorable Red Riding Hood stamp I didn't make.

Each faerie represents a different season.

The good spirit of the forest is hiding somewhere in this picture... be careful if you're sensitive, she's naked.

I went to the Kansas City Renaissance Faire last weekend.

Long ago there was a beautiful girl with a free spirit who loved nothing more than music and dancing and her freedom.

When the time came for her to be married, her father chose a man of high regard from another prominent family. The girl wanted nothing of it, so she ran to the hills to play her fiddle and dance away her sorrow.

The hill was a hollow one though, and the faerie prince who dwelt beneath it heard the music and came out to see the lovely girl dancing there.

He was besotted with her beauty and her skill and gave to her a flower, promising that if she would love him he would see to it that she was never confined by the will of others.

That was long ago, but even then faerie tales rarely come true.

Bridget Carroll's story began with that flower and with a grave of water.

She was just too cute!! I had to do another...
