On a full weekend, the 60 world’s best athletes in the disciplines of snowboarding, freeskiing, FMX and skateboarding competed for cash prizes totaling more than US$ 110,000 and the titles “freestyle.champ” and “crossover.champ”.

I was about 100 meters from the action, without much hope of getting a good shot. However, there was a photographer (Dave White) in the water with a giant flash, and I took this at the same time... It isn't perfect, but I thought it was interesting.

All the cases are empty. Those two meters are more than five years old. The gray things are spare lancet caps. The little vials are filled with a glucose syrup for testing that a meter is working properly. The newest vial there expired 8/2008. The oldest says 4/2004.
My inspiration for pulling everything out was my dropping my lancet between the seat and the frame in the car last night so that it was irretrievable. I thought I'd just pull out another lancet from the pile I know I've been collecting over the years, but there were only two or three! The actual pokey things I have bajillions of, but the spring-loaded devices for lancing with have apparently fallen through the cracks over all this time.
