Friday's Food for Thought

"If you take nothing else away from what I'm writing here, take this: Stop asking for permission to be who you are! Do not allow others to tell you that you can't do something or can't succeed. Also, do not allow yourSELF to tell you this, either!"

I came across an old blog post that I cannot take credit for that will inspire you.

Check it out and have a wonderful weekend.

Friday Food For Thought

Many of us were taught when we were young that when you do wrong we apologize and correct what we did wrong. As we got older we come to realize that everyone does not live by this rule. There are moments in life were we find that we will be done wrong. It could be physical abuse, divorce, financial blows, underhanded deals, or harsh words and we expect the other person or party correct what they did wrong. But to our surprise nothing is given in return, not even an apology or recognition by the person that they are wrong.

There are only two responses we can have: internalize the anger and become bitter or let go! Bitterness only closes our hands not to let go the past and keep replaying past memory tapes of us being done wrong. Most of all bitterness keeps us from grabbing hold to the blessing in front of us all because we are afraid to let go the negativity of the past. I wish I could tell you that if you let go you will not be hurt again but that is not true. But I can tell you if you do not let go, you will not feel the joy that you will gain more out of life.

It’ is ok….

'This could be me' is a good starting thought to try. It did cross my mind, and I don't mean the author who made this sculpture - but the person it portrays. Then I thought - yes, but I'll probably be playing guitar, pretending to earn the coins by working, rather than just begging... All sorts of thoughts... What are yours?

Friday's Food for Thought

It is amazing how this world is mixed with many shades of opinions, beliefs, politics, and religion. As much as we want others to have the same ideas and truths we hold dear, we find many who do not nor really care at all about what we think. Trust me if you find someone who agrees with you it is a blessing and you should cherish it. But when we find those who disagree with your ideology it is easy to dismiss and criticize them for taking a stand for things we feel are wrong.

Some even resort to name calling which not only pushes the person away from you but closes any type of relationship from forming. When was the last time you criticized someone and they changed their mind and believed your truths? The fact is criticism does not draw a person to you. Respecting others for their stand and seeing views from their shoes will bridge the gap every time. Let’s face it no one likes to be criticized but we do love to be respected and valued. So before you jump up and stab a person with words of criticism look and understand where they are coming from and respect their values.
