The Majorelle Garden (French: Jardin Majorelle, Arabic: حديقة ماجوريل hadiqat mmajuril, Berber languages: ⵓⵔⵜⵉ ⵎⴰⵊⵓⵔⵉⵍ urti majuril) is a two and half acre botanical garden and artist's landscape garden in Marrakech, Morocco. It was created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923, and features a Cubist villa designed by the French architect, Paul Sinoir in the 1930s. The property was the residence of the artist and his wife from 1923 until their divorce in the 1950s. In the 1980s, the property was purchased by the fashion designers, Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé who worked to restore it. Today, the garden and villa complex is open to the public. The villa houses the Islamic Art Museum of Marrakech, the Berber Museum and has recently opened the Musee Yves Saint Laurent.

Sunday afternoon at the Kunstmuseum. “It’s a madhouse,” sighs the lady at the ticket check. Compared to the cheerful crowd she has to check in, her grey-blue uniform looks tired. Young and old have dressed up fashionably for the exhibition about Dior.
Uniforms should express authority, but how neutral do they have to be? “High time to put a good, preferably younger fashion designer in charge,” says an inner voice. A museum that - after many shows of famous designers - has developed into an epicenter of haute couture should surely have more courage. How else do you express the bond with ‘fashion’? A word that unites such a myriad of meanings – from cut to shape, from mannerism to creation – that everyone can identify with it.
LEFT OR RIGHT
In any case, at the top of the central stairs, a choice has to be made. Right to the ‘New Look’ by Dior – left to the ‘Night Animals’ by Spilliaert and Braeckman. We go left because that's why we came. In the dim silence that falls on us like a downy blanket, we focus our eyes on the introductory text. And on the image of a man descending a staircase in the semi-darkness. To be precise, we only see half a man. His face is barely visible, and his clothing reveals nothing special. Could that be a harbinger of what awaits us? Certainly.
Stairs are powerful metaphors. Up, down: life has its peaks and valleys. Platinum-blonde Hollywood stars made a great show of descending a staircase. A practice that Marcel Duchamp slyly commented on with 'Nu descendant un escalier'. In this sensational painting from 1912, a character strides down like an avalanche of cubist fragments. Naked? Down the stairs? The audience was stunned, moved by laughter and anger.
Admittedly, there was movement in the image. Or rather, that was suggested very nicely. Or was it a pile of firewood that came crashing down? The cartoons in the newspaper did not mince their words. The term ‘anti-art’ was used. Isn’t Braeckman’s intensification of the unfathomable also just a provocation? Yes, there is something in that… some photos are so black that you can only guess what you see.

fondly dear Rebecca.
"Girls, hurry up, we have thirteen minutes left before the show, and I can't go like this!"
He waited for this moment for centuries! ;) His passion for fashion was always well-known, he dressed Queens and Kings, Prime Ministers and Chancellors, aristocrats and new money, actresses and musicians. But Strahd von Zarovich always wanted to make fashion affordable even for peasants, so now his dream come true - he opened his own fast fashion label. Fabulous!
Alas, I never played DnD (only watched some YouTube players), so I don't know who the character really is, but when the minifigure was announced, I joked that von Zarovich must be the head of ZARA or something. xD Well, I thought the joke is too original to miss the opportunity, so here we are!
This is also kind of a tribute to "Project Runway" reality TV series I watched as a teenager. Oh, yes, even though I don't remember the right names for all the clothes (especially in my own language), I can tell if someone has style or not, but I'm way too lazy and unbothered to actually buy anything good for myself, because I hate shopping. xD But I liked the show, the first seasons had very impressive contestants, very creative challenges and it was interesting.
Obviously, Strahd is not a conservative vampire, so of course he would change his own look very often. His modern hair was inspired by my all-time favorite contestant and the winner of 4th season of Project Runway - Christian Siriano. I think he's also the most successful from all the winners, by the way. ;) So this is also kind of a tribute to him. His favorite word is "fierce", and I think it's Strahd's favorite word too.
I haven't decided yet, is it my Halloween picture, or will I create something more spooky, so just in case I won't - Happy Halloween! ;)
