FORT IRWIN, Calif. -- Final day of testing for the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) Dec. 17 at the National Training Center (NTC) on Fort Irwin. 122 candidates arrived from across the United States to take the test at Fort Irwin earlier this week; exactly 40 Soldiers are left to advance towards attainment of the badge. The pass rate is traditionally between 15 and 20 percent.
The EFMB is awarded to military personnel who complete a variety of physical, mental and written tests that determine their ability to quickly, accurately and effectively perform complex life-saving medical tasks while in a variety of hostile environments and situations. The badge is considered the medical equivalent of the Expert Infantryman's Badge (EIB) but is said to be harder to earn.
The Weed Army Community Hospital hosts and facilitates as well as oversees the qualification of events for Soldiers seeking to earn the badge at training areas within the NTC. Qualification for the badge is considered a grueling experience by those who have earned it and the majority of participants do not make it to the final round.
The Soldiers vying for the coveted badge come from posts across the United States.

The UN Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Somalia, Isha Dyfan conducted her first official visit to the country to assess, monitor and report on the situation of human rights in Somalia, with a view to making recommendations regarding technical assistance and capacity-building in the field of human rights. from 28 March to 2 April 2022.
During the visit, Ms. Dyfan met State authorities, including the Minister of Women and Human Rights Development, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Youth and Sports and members of parliament. She will also meet with representatives from the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), UN agencies, representatives of civil society and international non-governmental organisations.

Blockchain experts and delegates from the private sector, Intellectual Property (IP) Offices, academia and intergovernmental organizations participated in the WIPO Standards Workshop on Blockchain, held from April 29-30, 2019, at WIPO Headquarters.
The workshop consisted of two general themes: general blockchain technology including standardization efforts, and use cases for blockchain with IP.
As a follow-up, the Blockchain Task Force of the Committee on WIPO Standards will further investigate effective uses of this technology within the IP space and what types of standardization would be beneficial.

I found these photos taken back in 2003 and wanted to post them as part of the eat local challenge I joined on Flickr. How local can you get - lovely whitefish. A whitefish is in Latin Clupeaformis Coreogonus, doing it from memory so hope it is spelled right. And it is a rich mild tasting fish - none of this bland Tilapia for us. It can be used in all sorts of recipe replacing any white fish like cod, sole, haddock, halibut and the best news about this particular kind of fish is where is it from - the cold clear waters of Great Slave Lake - far from contaminant laden waters of southern Canada.
