Existence and Power
Installations on experiences based on human relations in general represent domains that are formed by different sources of power or authority within the society. Due to the unconditional, lawless and dominant nature of “power” concepts like democratic structure, justice system, equality, politics, and human rights have lost their value and people’s beliefs in these values. Living and trying to survive in such an environment is the challenge. Disunion, disintegration, the relationship between strong and weak, polarization and themes alike come forward in most of the installations and Cyprus is the source of where all the installations stem from. An individual who lives in this geography cannot exclude oneself from this atmosphere or from what is going on within it. Consequently, the theme - existence and power- which is the subject of installations in this exhibition is shaped by the reflection of this geographical and its associated realities.

Yaşam, Güç ve Kargaşa-Karışıklık
Kurgulanan çalışmaların genelinde, insan ilişkileri üzerine kurulu yaşantı kesitleri sunan, çalışmalar, toplum içindeki farklı güçler ve güç ya da otorite odaklarının oluşturduğu alanları temsil etmektedir. ‘Gücün’ koşulsuz ve kural tanımaz, baskın etkisi, yaşam içinde ya da yaşamın sürdürüldüğü ortamlar içindeki demokratik yapı, adalet sistemi, eşitlik, politika, insan hakları gibi kavramların değerini yitirmesinde, ya da toplumun bu kavramlara olan inancının yitirilmesinde çok büyük etki oluşturduğu söylenebilir. Bunlarla birlikte toplum içinde kargaşa ve karışıklık yaratan dışavurumcu aktivitelerle toplumsal var olma- varlık mücadelesi ön plana çıkmaktadır. Böylesi bir ortamda yaşam sürdürmek ya da yaşam sürekliliği için çaba sarf etmek birçok zorlukları da beraberinde getirmektedir. Bölünme, parçalanma, güçlü-zayıf, kutuplaşma ve benzeri konuların ön plana çıktığı çalışmaların çoğunluğunda, çalışmaların potansiyel oluşumunu oluşturan alan Kıbrıs ve yakın çevresinde gelişen güncel olaylardır. Bu ortamında yaşayan ve yaşamını sürdüren bir insanın bu ortamdan ve ortamda yaşananlardan kendini soyutlaması zaten mümkün değildir. Sonuç olarak Bu bağlamda sergide yer alan çalışmaların konusu olan “Yaşam, Güç ve Kargaşa-Karışıklık”, bu coğrafya sınırları ve yakın çevresi ile ilgili yaşamın içindeki gerçeklerlin yansımalarıyla şekillenmiştir.
