The existence of the market was first noted in the historical records of the town in 1736. The Quayside Sunday Market has a long history with the area becoming a great tourist attraction.
The Quayside Market takes place every Sunday in the year from 9.30am to 2.30pm This vibrant Market is flourishing with traders selling quality local crafts, artwork, jewellery, fashion and food together with the traditional stalls selling plants, clothing, sweets, ice cream and toys.
ABU DHABI - AL WATHBA FOSSIL DUNES
This fossil dunes here are 100% natural rock formations. They come into existence the same way as sand dunes – thanks to sand-laden winds that flow over a very long period of time. The sand, in the case of fossil dunes, is infused with calcium carbonate. This is why it gets hardened over time and takes the form of abstract natural sculpture.
They look like dancing dunes 😉
The site of Al Wathba Fossil Dunes has been a popular spot among Hollywood filmmakers. Several movies, including the famed Six Underground and Star Wars: The Force Awakens feature these dunes.
