For regular visitors to my photostream, I apologise for the lack of individual captions in this set. Normally I to try to add a proper write-up for each image, but this batch was professionally shot for the event organisers and in such cases it's more important to get material online quickly for promotional purposes.

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race has been a firm fixture of this quiet Yorkshire countryside town for 46 years now. Once a year, over 90 teams exert a great deal of effort into designing and decorating beds, which are first paraded and then raced through the town in a madcap dash which culminates in crossing the River Nidd to reach the finish line. It is institutional British eccentricity at its very finest, and a thoroughly fun event to attend.

This year, participants were given a fancy dress theme of “Olympic Nations”, a topic with broad scope which allowed teams to get imaginative with their costumes! The images seen in this set were shot on behalf of Knaresborough Lions Club, who are responsible for organising the event. For more information, click here to visit their website.

On September 4, 2019, the Student Involvement Fair and the Global Opportunities Fair showcased different clubs, Greek Life, and international experiences that students could participate in while at Ramapo College. Representatives from more than 160 clubs and organizations were in attendance.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, the North West Ambulance Service and partners had a spooky time at a “Treacle” event in Alexandra Park, in Edgeley, yesterday, Tuesday 27 October 2015.

Treacle is the emergency services campaign to tackle issues around the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

Yesterday’s event was fun a lot of fun but had an important message for young people.

Would-be trick or treaters were given advice on how to stay safe this Halloween.

Although the day is an opportunity for children to get dressed up and can be a lot of fun, it can also be distressing and intimidating for older and more vulnerable residents.

Advice has been published on the safe4autumn website and includes the following tips:

Don’t…

Trick or treat alone – go in a small group or with friends and family, after all it’s more fun if you’re in a group.

Go into anyone’s home – stay at the doorstep where your accompanying adult can see you.

Play pranks or damage property – damaging property is a criminal offence and can lead to your arrest and even a criminal record.

Demand money or intimidate anyone – while Halloween is something you’ve been looking forward to, it’s not for everyone, so be polite and show respect.

Throw eggs and flour – this could lead to your arrest.

Do…

Look out for Treacle posters – these will tell you if you’re welcome or not.

Be careful when crossing roads – during the dark nights you’re more at risk of an accident.

Go with an adult – responsible adults can help you if there’s a problem.

Wear clothes you can be seen in – wearing bright, reflective clothing or carrying a lamp or torch will mean that you are seen by drivers and others.

Respect your neighbours – don’t go trick or treating when it’s late, only knock or ring once, be prepared to take 'no' for an answer and remember to be polite.

The B+W newspaper ad for our Halloween Outreach event at Four Corners Church. We are having a massive candy drop from a helicopter (inspired by Elevation Church), face painting, free food and prize give-aways. We are expecting between 1,000-3,000 people.

We also did a RADIO SPOT (:30) that's running all next week. Some of you mentioned the helicopter in the Door Hanger previously posted so here's the updated one. Let me know what you think about this campaign...

From the city’s perspective, events at the beach must be carefully planned and executed to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees. This may involve working with various agencies to ensure that the event meets all necessary regulations and guidelines. The city may also be responsible for providing permits for the event, ensuring that there are adequate resources such as EMS or law enforcement officials on hand to manage crowds and respond to emergencies. They may also be involved in coordinating transportation and parking, as well as addressing any concerns raised by local residents or businesses. Overall, the government has a crucial role to play in ensuring that events at the beach are enjoyable and safe for all, while also preserving the natural beauty and resources of the area.

Rainbow Bricks returned to Medowie for Medowie Brickfest on a beautiful sunny Spring Saturday 15th September. This community event was a successful day for everyone. And was one of the first events to support all 3 Medowie schools.

We had over 35 Rainbow Bricks exhibitors from across NSW bring their creations and collections to display. Included were many first time exhibitors who had a ball and will be back again to display.

There was something for the kids of all ages. There were displays with vintage sets through to some brand new sets such as Hogwarts Castle and motorised Roller Coast. Of course we have lots of MOCs [My Own Creations] on display including a huge new city tower building and a motorised Dr Who's K9.

As well as displays we had plenty of activities for the kids and the yong at heart to do after being inspirated by the displays. There was a new Tower building activity for the kids which was a hit and will be at other events going forward. As a result of the kids work we have some ideas on improving this activity which is great. Plus all the old favourities like the Build area, RC Tracker driving area and the Speed Builds where there and as popular as ever.
