SARA BLONSTEIN BIOGRAPHY

Sara Blonstein has always loved a glamorous party. She has put this desire to good use as the founder of the illustrious Blonstein & Associates. Here, she practices the art of creating mind blowing events for world-renowned brands as well as having been the first to have created “Experiential”.

Sara began her enviable career by studying Fine Arts in Sheffield. She came to London via New York to work as an assistant manager to the 80’s super band Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Before long, Sara was a recognised face on the alternative Soho club scene. Combining her passion for various artistic expressions, Blonstein became a stylist and costume designer, dressing the likes of Bros, Inner City, Ten City, Alison Limerick and Arthur Baker. If that wasn’t enough, she also developed a parallel interest in film production and set design.

While for some such broad ranging interests could be viewed as a challenge, Sara sought the perfect opportunity to ‘have it all.’ Seeking a career that combined history, music, art, film, photography, and theatre, her determination led her to the world of event production.

In the early 90s, this endeavour required a partner in crime, who Sara found in the form of a kindred spirit and fellow artist. Together, the duo formed the prestigious Pussy Posse parties, which were tied into an anti-AIDs campaign. Gaining the attention of the press and the respect of the industry, their events spearheaded a movement of sexy feminism, glamour and intelligent thinking. With unmatched attitude and style, they mixed kissing booths with mud wrestling and killer cocktails with cabaret.

Their success skyrocketed. In 1990, Blonstein & Associates was formed. Based in East London for over 10 years, Blonstein has been placed at the nucleus of hot new talent and ideas, immersing herself and the company in a scene that is on the cusp of cultural trends. Following the companies success, corporate clients soon followed, including Channel 4, who enjoyed Sara’s electrifying flair for over 6 years. Today, Blonstein & Associates is now deemed an international creative event agency, with a boutique philosophy to events that involves a leap of imagination from concept to finish.

The Blonstein and Associates client list includes internationally renowned brands as well as some of the best in the UK including MTV, LG, Selfridges, the British Fashion Council, Fashion East, Topshop, Absolut, Jameson, Warner Bros, Vivienne Westwood, Agent Provocateur, BSKYB and Sainsbury’s. Known for their fabulously elaborate extravagance, they creatively and consistently place brands in the centre of an experience. As an expansion of the business Sara has also developed what Blonstein coined as “rent the brain” where Blonstein & Associates is hired by international brands to create events on paper and in visuals to inspire the brand’s other agencies, globally.

Sara’s leftfield ideas are the reason for Blonstein & Associates success and will always be impossible to replicate as her inspiration comes from channelling her dead grandmother who wore leather jeans at 90. Behind the scenes they call it a “grandma Lily moment”.

Whether it’s hosting the BFC exhibition or Fashion East in the vaults of Somerset House, the future of Blonstein & Associates' relies heavily on Sara's unique talent. She loves being in the centre of hot new ideas and prides herself on adding a signature touch to each and every event. As well as having a penchant for including beds in every event she does, Sara Blonstein has a socialite body guard boyfriend, a house trained rabbit, a Catherine Janeway (Star Trek Voyager) obsession and a ream of trannie fans. She is currently enjoying the thrill of creating show-stopping events for global brands that include glamour and substance with a sting in its tail.

Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report host Tamara Krinsky were invited to cover the preview of the food and décor of the 86th Oscars® Governors Ball, which is the Academy’s official post-Oscar® celebration immediately following the Oscars ceremony on Sunday, March 2.

At the event, the press got to watch as Cheryl Cecchetto unveiled the décor for the ball along with the floral theme unveiled by Mark Garden. Of course, the Governors Ball Press Preview would not be complete without seeing, talking to and tasting Wolfgang Puck and his team of chefs menu samples. Also on hand were Sterling Vineyards with their reserve selection of wines and Champagne Thiénot with the exclusive champagne for the ball. Johnnie Walker, Baileys and Cîroc as revealed their featured cocktails and recipes to share with our audience in hopes of inspiring hostesses for Oscar Sunday.

We also got to see this year’s “envelope” as Marc Friedland unveiled the design of the envelopes and announcement cards bearing the names of Oscar winners - don’t worry, we didn’t see anyone’s name… we all have to wait until March 2nd, Oscar Sunday!
