One of the oldest and largest open-air museums in Europe is located on the banks of Lake Jugla, just a 30 minute drive from downtown Riga.
This museum is unique when compared to similar museums around the world with the fact that it began to collect its exhibitions before the war, and thus many of its exhibition objects are in very good condition.
118 historical buildings from all four of Latvia’s provinces – Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Zemgale and Latgale, have been put on display at the museum. The buildings range in age, and most of them were originally constructed between the 17th century up all the way up until the 1930s.
Wielkopolski Ethnographic Park in Dziekanowice is part of Museum of the First Piast at Lednica.
The construction of the museum began in September 29, 1975. The first exhibition opened to the public June 1, 1982.
The museum presents houses, stable, barn with equipment. The individual buildings are organized into pens and oriented in such a way that all created life-size village. The composition is complemented by wooden church, a chapel with a cemetery, the baroque mansion with grange, inn, windmills, water mill. The youngest building dates from 1935 and the oldest parts date back to 1602. There are already 53 objects and the collection is growing steadily.

The open-air ethnographic museum in Kwiatkówek, near Tum, is a new tourist attraction created in the years 2011-2013. It consists of several essential parts: architectural buildings, shrine, buildings presenting industry and rural crafts (trestle-type windmill, oil mill, smithy) and accompanying objects. The buildings are reconstructions of buildings characteristic of the Łęczyca area from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. An exception is the renovated historic windmill from 1820, as well as the oil mill from the mid-20th century and the smithy from the beginning of the 20th century. The furnishings of the homestead reconstruct a typical interior of a country family home from the end of the interwar period. Thanks to lively activities in the form of workshops, shows (including those involving local artists and craftsmen) or folk events, it is a living facility, showing old traditions of rural life and allowing visitors to actively participate.

Widok na skansen z drewnianego pomostu spacerowego :)
Skansen w Kwiatkówku, obok Tumu, to nowa atrakcja turystyczne powstała w latach 2011-2013.

The Museum of Ethnography is a national museum in Budapest, Hungary.
It was founded as the Ethnographic Department of the Hungarian National Museum in 1872. It formally split from the National Museum in 1947 but moved to its building in Kossuth Square, opposite the Parliament building, only in 1973. The grand building in which the Museum of Ethnography is now housed was originally built by Alajos Hauszmann for the Ministry of Justice.

Museum of Ethnography Budapest Hungary
Architects: NAPUR Architect
Area : 34000 m²
The new building of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest City Park (Városliget) was opened 2022. The award-winning new museum building – which is part of Europe’s largest urban-cultural development called Liget Budapest Project has dynamic yet simple lines simultaneously harmonized with the park environment and communicating with the surrounding urban area.
The collection, which comprises 250.000 items from the Carpathian Basin and from every corner of the world, has been hosted by various facilities since its establishment in 1872, but never in its history did it operate in a building designed specifically to cater to its needs. The project was one of over 1700 entries from 115 countries. According to the decision of an international jury, the competition was won by the Hungarian architectural studio, Napur Architect (beating leading world-class architect studios such as Zaha Hadid, BIG), whose building is distinguished by a dynamic yet simple design harmonized with the natural environment of the park while communicating with the urban texture of its surroundings. The gently curving lines enable the building to function as a gateway and a passage linking the city and the park. Sixty percent of the structure is under ground level, and thanks to the landscaped roof and the transparency of the sections over the ground, the new museum is adapted to its environment in its scale too. The grass-covered roof area will be a pleasant community space awaiting visitors to Városliget.
The spectacular trademark of the building is the glass curtain wall surrounding the landscaped roof garden, reminiscent of two intertwined hillsides, with a unique characteristic, consisting of nearly half a million pixels, a raster made by metal grid based on ethnographic motifs selected from the museum's Hungarian and international collections.
The new functions and flexible spaces of the modern and state-of-the-art museum building will facilitate the understanding of the historical heritage embodied by the collection as well as the various aspects of contemporary society. Besides passing down this historical heritage, the realization of more recent professional and research themes and perspectives continues to be among the priority objectives of the museum, as confirmed by its mission. The creatively built spaces will open up new opportunities to communicate with visitors, enabling the presentation of the everyday objects, phenomena, and ideas of the past and the present side by side.

The story of this photo:
I just came back from a short vacation today. 8 days almost without any online interaction. Sometimes I took a look or two to see what was going on, but very little activity from my part.
As I came back, I decided to finally finish this image. Somehow, I was not happy with it before I left. So I decided to let it rest. When I looked at it today, there was not much I could change. So, I figured it was finished. Maybe I am too hard on myself here. Judge for yourself. By the way, I wrote about letting your images rest in my latest HDR Cookbook recipe about "Why you need an artistic workflow". Take a look!
This images was shot in the Ethnographic Museum in Budapest. It was a hot and sunny day, and everyone was either taking a nice bath or they were visiting the parliament building right across the street. So, I was virtually alone.
Enjoy!
Take a look at my "HDR Cookbook"! It contains some more information on my techniques.
How it was shot:
> Taken handheld [details]
> 5x3 autobracketed shots (three exposures each with 0, -2, +2 EV)
> Camera: Nikon D7000
> Lens: Sigma 10-20mm F3,5 EX DC HSM
> Details can be found here
How it was stitched and tonemapped:
> Created two additional exposures in ACR (+4EV and -4EV) to preserve highlights and shadows [details]
> Saved the images as TIFs
> Applied noise reduction (Topaz Denoise) to each of the source images [details]
> Resulting TIF images were then used as input to Photomatix
> Stitched the 5 tone-mapped TIFs using Photoshop
How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in Photoshop
> Topaz Adjust on the entire image to get back the colors and the details [details]
> Topaz Infocus on the entire image for sharpening
