93% of the residents in Lapu village is Gurung according to the 2011 government statistics. Gurung people is an ethnic minority occupying 2% of the population of Nepal. They speak a Tibeto-Burman language like most of the ethnic minorities in Nepal. They are related to the peoples in Tibet, Indo-China, and Yunnan Province of China.
Economic situations of the ethnic minorities in Nepal differ considerably depending on respective ethnic groups. Newari people who are dominant in the Nepal business circle is the richest. Thakalis and Sherpas who often engage in tourism businesses are also richer than the Nepali majority who are dominant in the politics.
Economic situation of Gurung people is not as good as the above but is better than the national average. Mercenary as Gurkha soldier has been their traditional livelihood, and their remittance is important for Gurung villages.
One warm August day in 2014, my mom and I visited the Museum of architecture and life under the open sky, located on a large area in the village of Pyrohiv, on the southern outskirts of Kyiv.
The museum featured architectural samples from all corners of Ukraine, from various historical periods (of course, only those that have survived to our days), which were literally transported to this museum. The museum’s territory was quite large and divided into regional zones of Ukraine, since each region had its own typical distinctions.
Moreover, Pyrohiv was also a large landscape park where one can wander for hours. Shortly before our visit to the museum, I gifted my mom an inexpensive compact camera, the Olympus VG-160, so she could easily and quickly photograph anything she wanted.
Although the camera is already outdated and the photo quality leaves something to be desired, some of the pictures my mom took back then are still interesting to look at. Today, I’d like to share some of them with you.
Unfortunately, during the so-called "COVID pandemia" period, the museum was closed to visitors, and according to information from about a year ago, the museum suffered a raider attack (meaning certain individuals attempted to remove it from state ownership and claim it for themselves).
For now the future of the museum remains uncertain...

The Hucul bears some resemblance to the now-extinct Tarpan. Said to have originated in the Carpathian Mountain range of Eastern Europe covered by present-day Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia and Romania,] it is named after the small sub-ethnic Ukrainian group of Hutsuls. However, the horse breed is much older than the Hutsul people. The Huculs are probably depicted on the monuments erected by Roman Emperors Domitian and Trajan, as Dacian draft horses. The breed was mentioned for the first time in written resources around 400 years ago (as the "Mountain Tarpan"). Unlike the Polish Konik, the Hucul has been only rarely cross-bred with domestic horses.

In the 19th century, the Huculs were used by the Austro-Hungarian Army.

Thanks to the efforts of breeders, the world population of these horses now exceeds 1,000. Most of them live in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. Many ponies in Europe also have Hucul blood. In recent years the popularity of this breed has spread as far as England.
Mojari is a style of handcrafted footwear. They are traditionally made by artisans mostly using tanned leather. The uppers are made of one piece of leather or textile embroidered and embellished with brass nails, cowry shells, mirrors, bells and ceramic beads. Some product range also uses bright and ornate threads.As it evolved through the centuries and is being produced by individual artisans, products vary in designs and colours. It encapsules cultural diversity, local ethos and ethnicity.
This particular style of embroidery is done by artisans from Rajasthan and Gujarat.
They complement the Indian ethnic wear (churidar and the traditional full circle long skirt) quite well.

The Hmong (Mong) are concentrated in Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Lai Chau, Son La, Cao Bang and Nghe An provinces.
Each lineage lives within a group setting. The head of the village assumes the common affairs for the lineage. Young Hmong men and women are free to choose their partners. Marriages are absolutely forbidden between men and women of the same lineage. Matrimonial life of the Hmong is very harmonious and divorce is very rare.
Hmong language belongs to the Hmong-Dao Group.
The Traditional Tet (New Year's Day) of the Hmong is organized every December or January. They refrain from eating green vegetables during the three days of the Tet Holiday. The musical instruments of the Hmong include various kinds of "khen" (pan-pipes) and lip organs. After a hard working day and to celebrate spring, the young men and women often play "khen" and lip organs to express their feelings for their partners.
The Hmong make their clothes from linen. Women's attire consists of a skirt, a blouse that opens at the front and has embroidery on the back, an apron to cover the skirt at the front, and leggings.
The Hmong live mainly on slash-and-burn cultivation. They also grow rice and corn on terraced
fields. Their principal food plants are corn, rice, and rye. Apart from these crops, they also grow medicinal plants and linen plants to supply the fibers for cloth weaving.
