Another bank closed, and one that has been on the site for over a century.

This was a Barclays, and follows the loss of the Santander and NatWest in the same road. Just a Lloyds is open here now.

Banks say that many people now bank using their on line services and the number of people who walk in a branch are no longer high enough to warrant keeping them open. I think the fact that many folk have moved to on line use, is simply because they have no choice.

The yellow marks and boarded up shop show where a Route 212 ended up recently:

in a 'you couldn't make this up' moment, a car went into the same shop the following day:

A street corner in Macclesfield, just over the road from the Water's Green pub. I do like Macclesfield but it's a long trip to get there. The sharpness of this lens amazes me (zoom in and look at the details on the bricks), I'm not really into sharpness but this old camera is pretty impressive.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS, AWARDS AND FOR ANY INVITES.

Windows of shops nowadays appear to be solely advertising opportunities! This estate agents in Newark takes full use of the limited window space they have.

Belvoir is pronounced the same as the word ‘Beaver’! Don’t ask me why!

In need of some modernisation, it benefits from a rural location well served by transport with easy links to the A303. Set in several acres of peaceful countryside -would make an ideal family home. Viewing recommended.

Not something I expected to see when I was having a nose through the Estate Agent's window in Ipwich Town Centre this morning! A Jersey Tiger Moth!

The Jersey Tiger Moth is a beautiful moth with creamy white strips on its forewing and bold orange underwings. It can be found in gardens and by the coast, near beaches and coastal cliffs. The caterpillars feed mainly on ground ivy, white dead-nettle, branmble and common nettle. Jersey Tiger Moths fly in both day and night. Jersey Tigers are mainly found in the south of England, particularly in Devon and Dorset. They have also been recorded in Sussex, Kent, the Isle of Wight and around London.

The thing I love this area are the hills. I've lived in other places which are flatter, but never feel at home unless I'm surrounded by hills. Of course, it means there are a few steep roads to climb... this being one of them!

Thanks for looking!

Is it nice Mum? Does it have a nice garden for me?

For once, this was spotted by the wife while we were driving through a Welsh Village...l just had to go back and get a snap of it despite holding up all the traffic on the main road...l think l should have "Gone directly to Jail." for that.

Broadway Market in Hackney - testament to the eastward shift in the capital's centre of gravity over the last 25 years. Where once were boarded-up shops, we now have designer opticians and estate agents.

So HK realty even 'glows' in the dark...

Each year The Alresford Pigs Association erect, service and remove over 170 Christmas trees in the heart of the town all for a single payment of £60.00 per tree. The Christmas Trees are erected by a volunteer workforce from The Alresford Pigs on behalf of the Alresford Chamber of Commerce.

All profits made by The Alresford Pigs will be used to support local needy causes.

New Alresford or simply Alresford is a small town and civil parish in the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, England. It is 7.5 miles (12 km) northeast of Winchester and 12 miles (20 km) southwest of the town of Alton.

New Alresford has independent shops, a tourist information centre, a central conservation area, four tea rooms, five pubs and is a terminus as with Alton of the Watercress Line, a steam-worked heritage railway at Alresford railway station. Of its population, 25.9% are aged 65 or over, and the mean age is higher than the national average, at 45.4 years.

West Street here is part of the B3047 which runs alongside the River Itchen through mid-Hampshire.

It starts on a roundabout on the A31 east of Bishop's Sutton, and heads westwards through the village into New Alresford, briefly multiplexing with the B3046 through the town centre. It then crosses the now-disused Alton - Winchester line and TOTSOs to the right - the road ahead being a spur of the B3047 leading back to the A31.

After this, the road changes character to a more rural and winding route, closely following the south bank of the Itchen through Itchen Stoke and Itchen Abbas. The M3 is crossed without a junction and the road then meets the A33 at the north end of the Winchester Bypass.

The A33 is crossed via a staggered crossroads, after which the B3047 takes over part of the historic Roman Road from Basingstoke to Winchester into Winchester city centre. It TOTSOs (The acronym TOTSO is used on SABRE to refer to a junction at which the road continuing straight ahead does not bear the same number as the route we are currently following—we must therefore Turn Off To Stay On that same numbered route.) left onto Hyde Street before ending at the bottom end of the street at traffic lights on the B3330.

I've gone all literal today - Estate Agents boards outside the old Dunmow hospital which is now flats and houses. It's a lovely building but always has plenty of Estate Agent action outside. It's on the main road into Dunmow from the Chelmsford side, so a great advertising position...and we do have an inordinate number of Estate Agents plying their trade in Dunmow (this is but a small selection).

It certainly is a traffic bathroom. Classic styling.
