If you’re thinking of escaping Pathum Thani for a day, the best place is to go to Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam, Nakorn Nayok.
Nakorn Nayok is known for its distinct landscape dense, virgin forests, streams, waters, high-altitude plains and Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam. This place is a safe haven for wildlife including gibbons, deer and bird species such as giant hornbills and silver pheasants. The dam is very impressive. It holds the claim of being the longest dam in the world to be made of a particular blend of concrete. Fortunately, the water level of the reservoir was quite deep when we visited. You can hire a boat to see 3 small waterfalls (น้ำตกคลองคราม, น้ำตกช่องลม, and น้ำตกผางามงอน). The dam itself is a 5-kilometre (to and fro) distance to walk so it is best to hire a self-driving golf buggy for 350 Baht for an hour to enjoy the lake view and the spectacular dam wall. As a second timer, October is the recommended time to visit this place.
Not really an "escape hatch" ; -). It's a window on the spiral stairway inside the tower of Whitefish Point Lighthouse, Michigan.
