This is another image of Ernst Tinaja, Big Bend National Park, Texas but from the opposite side of the canyon. This view is looking back down the drainage towards the parking area about .5 miles away. It's a short and easy hike to get to this site. The tinaja is an eroded basin in the top of the Buda limestone and the thin sedimentary layers above it is part of the Boquillas Geologic Formation. This tinaja always seems to have water even in dry weather and some people suspect there is a spring feeding it. This drainage is from Questa Carlota which is on the western side of the Dead Horse Mountains.

Paddock garage shot of the very pretty 500 TRC owned and raced by Ernst Schuster. Originally sold to William Helburn of New York, the car has had a number of different colour schemes over the years, including the N.A.R.T. blue and white scheme. It is seen here though in its original livery.

Die neugotische Vierflügelanlage wurde 1858 bis 1869 im Auftrag von Georg V. nach Entwurf von Conrad Wilhelm Hase am Rand von Pattensen, nahe Hannover erbaut.
Laut Medien heißt es:
Schloss Marienburg wird saniert, weil Schwammbefall in den alten Balken der Dächer entdeckt wurde. Es ist deshalb seit Ende 2023 für Besucher gesperrt. Die Sanierung koste laut der letzten Berechnung 40 Millionen Euro...
Die Sanierung wird primär durch das Land Niedersachsen und den Bund finanziert, da das Schloss als Kulturdenkmal von nationaler Bedeutung gilt.
2019 hatte Erbprinz Ernst August von Hannover eine Stiftung gegründet, um die Kostenexplosion abfangen zu können.
Durch eine Öffnung der Marienburg für Touristen ab dem Sommer 2026 könnte vielleich zusätzlich Geld in die Kasse gespült werden. Die Burg ist nämlich Drehort der international beliebten Serie "Maxton Hall", der erfolgreichsten nicht amerikanischen Serie des Streaming-Anbieters Prime Video.

Ernst Grote was a food wholesaler and founded a coffee-roast house making Ernst Grote Kaffee. In 1971 the coffee company was sold to the local competition of Machwitz Kaffee, which is still in existence today and opened a coffee shop in Hannover in 2010.

A Tinaja is a mostly reliable pool of water, mostly protected from evaporation by impervious bedrock and often shady times of the day.

Ok, sie hat es mich nicht gefragt ;-) Ich komme nur durch nette und gewitzte Kommentare für das vorhergehende Porträt drauf – Danke dafür: backsidewalkaround GOLDFOCUS :-) ... Wieso meine Tochter sich das Maßband um den Kopf gewickelt hatte, weiß ich nicht mehr. Wir hatten glaube ich etwas anderes messen wollen als den IQ, vielleicht die Taille oder Beinlänge ;-)

Ernst Haas, who would have been 102 years old this past Thursday, gave me the courage to make and post a photograph like this one that is closer to fantasy than reality. Ernst made incredible color photographs with slow shutter speeds to enhance the sense of movement, even to the point of creating a blurred image. I fell in love with those photographs. And so, here's to your memory, Ernst. You were courageous, creative, so special, and most of all, not forgotten.

zum Ende meines heutigen Gangs durch die Welterbestätte ein Blick auf das Portal des ehemaligen Ateliergebäudes, das heute als Museum Künstlerkolonie genutzt wird.
Als zentrales Bauwerk der Ausstellung 1901 entwarf Joseph Maria Olbrich das Atelierhaus der Künstlerkolonie auf dem höchsten Punkt der Anlage.
Das reich verzierte Portal zeigt mit seinem markanten Omegabogen, den Vergoldungen und den bronzenen Siegesgenien von Rudolf Bosselt sowie den überlebensgroßen Portalskulpturen „Kraft“ und „Schönheit“ des Bildhauers Ludwig Habich.
Ernst Tinaja is another famous place at Big Bend National Park, Texas. Tinaja is a Spanish word for 'large earthen jar' or water hole. It is located in the Dead Horse Mountains on the eastern side of the National Park via the 4x4 WD Old Ore Road. This tinaja was created in the limestone rock by erosion. The layers above the limestone are thin beds of claystone, shale from clay, sandstone, and limestone. At times the thin beds shifted and created some strange folds that can be seen as one walks the drainage to the tinaja. This last trip to Big Bend actually had three tinajas that we saw. The first two were only a foot or so deep but the tinaja in pic is deeper, probably three or four feet deep?
