Il borgo di Castiglione era chiamato nell'alto medioevo dei Corbellari. Divenne del Terziere dal XIII secolo, in quanto terza
parte dei possedimenti feudali lasciati da Obizzino Malaspina ai suoi eredi. Castiglione del Terziere, dopo essere stato stato dei Malaspina, passò nel 1451 alla Repubblica di Firenze. Il borgo è dominato dal castello risalente al VI-VII secolo.

The village of Castiglione was called in the High Middle Ages of the Corbellari. It became of the Terziere from the XIII century, as a third part of the feudal possessions left by Obizzino Malaspina to his heirs. Castiglione del Terziere, after having been a member of the Malaspina family, passed to the Republic of Florence in 1451. The village is dominated by the castle dating back to the 6th-7th century.
2018 was a special time, it really did feel like a rebirth for the leasers and classic units, too bad by 2019 most of it all was gone again.

Después de subir una buena cuesta llegamos a la Ermita.
La Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña era otra de las cuatro parroquias de la villa. Esta iglesia se derrumbó en los años treinta y el edificio actual es una reedificación de los años cuarenta que conserva aún su portada original.
A los pies de su portada se celebra cada noche de San Juan el rito del Paso del Fuego

Having photographed this operation numerous times it was always a joy to see the care used in maintaining these units well into the UP era. This shot was taken in March 2000 and look at how clean these units are. The mechanical staff at Helper really took great care of these units.

Another of the dilapidated wrecks to be found on the Cabrach area of moorland twixt Aberdeenshire and Moray North East Scotland. A probable remnant of the clearances, but from which era of clearances I have no idea. A lot of upland hill farms became unmanageable after WWI as so few men returned in a fit state to carry out the arduous work required, the upland farmsteads fell by the wayside and this is what we see so much of today.

The Blue Swallow has been serving travelers along the Mother Road since 1939! The motel is a typical motor court of the era, built with attached garages next to each room. Every room has been lovingly preserved and maintained, and features original furnishings and period decor. This is a true time capsule that should be on every Route 66 traveler's bucket list . . . So glad we were able to get a room here, and the owners, Kevin and Nancy, are the best! . . . . . .
Stop in for a great 66 experience. You won't be disappointed!
Portofino era deserta : tutto immobile, chiuso, silenzioso , come il tempo grigio che incombeva e colorava di grigio il mare. Sembrava una cittadina sfollata dopo un bombardamento. Mai vista così. Un senso di desolazione.
Anche nei nostri cuori sembra spegnersi una luce, dopo un anno di pandemia, di isolamento, quando la gente continua a morire e ormai sono diventati numeri. Perché siamo stanchi, come questa lampara che non serve più.
Non lasciamo spegnere la luce nei nostri cuori. Non lasciamo che niente e nessuno la spenga.

Liston/Old town Corfu.

A stroll around the Old Town on Corfu will either start or end at the famous Liston next to the main Esplanade. Closely linked to the history of the island, it is a landmark and the most photographed place in the town as well as a meeting point throughout the day. So what is famous about Liston? It is an impressive residential estate which was constructed during the Second French Occupation of the island (1807-1814). It was intended as a landmark for the aristocracy of Old Corfu and according to legend, only the gentry of the time were allowed to walk on the street (today known as Eleftherias Avenue). It was designed by the French engineer, Mathieu de Lesseps, father of the builder of the Suez Canal and it was built to the standards of the famous rue de Rivoli in Paris. The Greek engineer, Ioannis Parmezan collaborated in the construction. The Arches were expanded and floors were gradually added under the English Commissioner (1815-1864), and are now home to residences and offices. The building was first used as a French barracks and then operated as a hotel and even hosted great figures. Today Liston is the most secular point on Corfu. You can enjoy coffee, food or a drink in nearby establishments. At Easter it is the reference point for the town's Philharmonic parade and the town's Litany of Agios Spyridonas. The hanging lanterns and vaulted arches which are lit at night are like an image from another era.

Durante el verano era habitual aprovechar las tardes de sábado por la zona para dar caza al "Ikea" de transfesa de Vilar Formoso a Constantí, hasta que el año pasado dejó de circular vía Rioja para hacerlo por Madrid.
Así pues, decidimos aprovechar las largas tardes veraniegas para fotografiar los últimos pasos de este tren por la zona, que solía salir a buena hora de Salamanca y permitía inmortalizarlo con sol de sobra. En este caso, la 335-006 tiraba de la larga y habitual composición de transfesa con un gran compañero a los mandos, y a su paso por la mítica curva de entrada a San Asensio.

Stasera il cielo era così (era un po' più chiaro, ma ho volutamente accorciato l'esposizione per ottenere un effetto più scuretto). Allora io e il tuo papà siamo andati in terrazza, dove ho scattato qualche foto, e poi mi ha abbracciata e così abbracciava anche te, e tutti e tre insieme abbiamo guardato questo magnifico tramonto. E' stato il nostro primo tramonto tutti insieme. E ce ne saranno molti altri. E non vediamo l'ora che tu possa vedere il tramonto con i tuoi occhi, invece che attraverso i miei. Ti amiamo tanto tanto. Con affetto, mamma e papà.

Today we had this wonderful sunset (actually it was a bit lighter, but I shortened the exposure to have a darker effect). So you daddy and I went out to take some photos, and then he kept me in his arms and in this way he was keeping you too, and we stared at this sunset all together. It was our first sunset together, and we are anxious that you can see your sunset with your eyes an not through mine. We love you. Mummy and daddy.

Penso que está na hora de eu voltar para casa. Aprendi a voar e agora aprendi a voltar para meu lugar e cuidar dele e dos que comigo convivem.
