Oversize load transport equipment parked at the "Olympia-Schiessanlange" in Garching. "Action" shots to follow, stay tuned...

The thing is called a "Kesselbrücke", works basically like a Schnabel car on a railway, the main difference is that the load is vertically adjustable to pass over or under obstacles. Another difference - the load is placed on a dedicated platform between the two halves of the vehicle, therefore the load does not need to have the mechanical stiffness to bear its own weight (loads on Schnabel cars must be stiff).

Total length is 96 m, it has total 34 axles (count them if you wish...).

The load is a 210 t heavy gas turbine for the Heizkraftwerk Süd power station in the south of Munich.

I am not sure of the purpose for this equipment but it was hanging from the rafters of an old barn.

I saw these two weathered farm buildings just sitting off the highway. Of course I had to stop and take their photo. There is something about old farm buildings that I really like. Especially when they have a lean to them. This one leans to the south which tells me it has survived many northern winter winds.

First, in line, William Laughlin built a three-story log gristmill on the Cumberland County frontier. In order to generate power to turn the grindstone, he built a dam that provided water power equal to that of fifteen horses to turn the waterwheel. Laughlin's was the first mill on Big Spring and it ground wheat and other grain for the people in the surrounding countryside. Laughlin's mill continued to produce whole wheat flour until 1896 when the Laughlin family sold it to the Newville Water Company, which removed the milling equipment and installed a turbine to drive hydraulic pumps that supplied the town's municipal water mains.

The barn to the right is a tobacco barn with its rectangular openings to control the temperature and humidity while the tobacco is cured, dried after being hung from rafters. The barn to the left cures some tobacco and stores equipment and supplies. Raising tobacco involves a lot dirty, sticky and hot work. Located in the western edge of Owen County in the Kentucky River Valley. The barns are painted a distinctive black to raise the temperature for curing tobacco

What ever this piece of equipment was/is must have been pretty heavy as it is place on a cement structure. Maybe a part of a heavy-duty motor?

They're making a helluva racket on Richmond St. over the past few months, laying some sort of jumbo plumbing. They dig, lay pipe, put in temporary plates and asphalt, then return in a month to dig it up again and do some other kinda thing. I'm sure there's a method to the madness but when you're trying to listen or talk in a meeting, it can feel like giant sand worms are burrowing through the street - sometimes the whole house shakes! This gear was occupying our usual parking spot one morning.

2022-06-15 - Sunspot region 3032 produced a long duration M3.4 solar flare this morning peaking at 04:07 UTC. Type II and IV radio sweeps were observed and a very nice partial halo coronal mass ejection was launched into space.

A solo AC44/60CW rebuild is finally on the move west as it leads UP train MASNP-21 down Main Track 2 of the UP KC Metro Sub at Hickory St.

After working Neff, the initial plan was to send this train onto the KCT and through Armourdale in order to bypass 18th St, and they made it as far as the top of The Incline waiting for a signal from KCT West End at Old Union Depot Interlocking. However, the Terminal refused to take the train due clearance issues on the Kaw River Bridge with their high-wide loads, the big cut of military equipment on the head end, so they ended up having to shove clear of Broadway, wait on a couple moves and finally begin moving west out of town, sewing up most of the KC Metro Sub in the process. 12/22/24.

Actually, no. This is part of an outdoor display at a private electrical museum I visited over the 4th of July weekend.
