Perhaps one of Germanys most famous statues stands on guard at the convergence of the mighty Mosel and Rhein rivers the Deutsches Eck (German Corner).

The Statue is a typical Prussian martial style equestrian statue of William I, the first German Emperor it was created in 1897 in gratitude after his death for being the Father of the modern Empire and the unification of Germany.

During WWII it was mistakenly destroyed by artillery when they mistook it for enemy troops and it remained just a plinth until 2 September 1993 when sculptor Raymond Kittl finished producing an improved replica created from bronze plates this time around instead of copper.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR, PS luminosity masks and DXO Nik

Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.

Back to client work after a lovely few summer weeks off with the family. Easing back in with some cosy early autumn vibes over at Evergarden Equestrian. Keeping the transition gentle with soft greens, dry grasses and touches of orange to allow for an easier, lower effort autumn shift across all the regions. Summer’s out, pumpkins are in.

Horse is one of the hardest build I ever done. Beside getting the pattern realistic, I wanna show more postures about the horse.

This year I want to revisit this project and make the horse pose-able. I rebuild the whole body so that the 4 legs are able to rotate to the angle that the horse should be. Besides, I wanna present the equestrienne “half lifting” riding the horse. The challenges are the whole build of the horse plus equestrienne are too heavy to present multiple postures that I have in my mind. Clear bars for supporting the horse are inevitable. I tried to use less but minimum have to be 6 in parallel. I tried to hide it in multiple places but put in the Centre is most steady for all the postures.

It’s fun for the whole experience.

The weather has been perfect the last few days! A great opportunity to get Stolas out and work on our shoulder movements. It only takes a few passes before any stiffness is worked out. His reach and motion always look so good. We’re hopeful to compete a little this year; get an opportunity at some feedback and grow our skills.

See everyone in the show arena soon!

Spirit of the Horse, at the beginning they said no flash or video...but I saw a man in front asked not to take pictures without flash either..so all of these were taken with sureptious camera on my lap (we were at the back on an aisle) so between that and the light, I'm amazed I got anything at all!!
