Powerfully emotive bronze sculpture positioned at the front of the National Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney.
It is one of a pair, the other being The Offerings of Peace. Both by British sculptor Gilbert Bayes (1872 – 1953).
In 1915, after the outbreak of World War I, Bayes submitted to the National Art Gallery a pair of 18 inch bronzed plaster figures entitled Offerings of Peace and Offerings of War and the following year he received the commission to produce large bronze versions to flank the museum's main entrance. They were finished in 1923 and installed in 1926.
Both are allegorical sculptures. War holds a staff, a bundle of swords and broken spear shafts.
This statue stands 4. 2 m in height and weights 6 tonnes.

"Réiser Päerdsdeeg" is an International equestrian event. (CSI*** and CSI*)
An integral part of the international show jumping scene since 1992, the Réiser Päerdsdeeg attract more than 4000 visitors each year. The tournament, which boasts international show jumping stars, takes place every year on the Herchesfeld, located between Crauthem and Roeser.

Long time no post. We are back after a break and try to get back into working shape once again. I went light today, wanting to ease him back into work. We took it easy by doing some transition work in walk, trot, and a bit of canter. I can say that working this pony after some time off was pretty smooth. There was little fuss, and it seemed like he went right to it.
After the ride in the arena, I took him out around the property to cool off. Overall, it was an enjoyable day.
Middleburg's businesses thrive on the crowds that visit the little hamlet each year to watch the Equestrians and their hounds embark upon the hunt. This year was particularly cold, so these intrepid riders brought their enthusiasm, as well as their mounts so as to not disappoint. The young, and the young at heart make sure that a timeless tradition perseveres.
