Daffodils mean Spring has well and truly arrived. They've been my fave Spring flower ever since I was a little girl, when these with the big trumpets particularly appealed.
Painted these in Topaz Studio and finished off my image in PicMonkey Pro.
I hope you all have a happy time as possible during this current awful world situation we all desperately hope will end soon in peace and friendship throughout our delicate world and an end to madness and destruction.

Painted buntings are divided into an eastern and a western population. The eastern population lives only in the coastal regions of northern Florida up to North Carolina. The population in the west ranges from Louisiana and Texas up to Kansas and winters mainly in Mexico and southwards to Panama, while those from the east winter in southern Florida, the Florida Keys being one of these locations, and occasionally in Cuba and the Bahamas. The western population breeds in a habitat consisting of partially open areas with scattered brush, shrubbery and riparian thickets. The eastern birds choose scrub communities and the edges of maritime hammocks. The winter habitats are similar to each other, being tropical savanna and tropical forest margins.
Painted buntings are one of the most spectacularly colored and visually impressive birds in the United States and are the only U.S. bird with a blue head along with red underparts.
The French word ‘nonpareil’, is used for this species. It means “without equal,” and refers to the bird’s splendid plumage.
I found this one along with five others including males and females in my backyard. They have spent the Winter with me in Polk County, Florida, over the last several years.
They left again a few days ago. Hope they have a safe trip home and look forward to their return next year.

Being different shouldn't be treated as something wrong or bad. Nor should we be afraid of it. It's not a decease or a fault. It's natural. We 're all different in so many ways, yet we are all humans, right? And in what a contradiction this leads us to...
Yet being different is not wrong. It can be a good thing like a trait of a leader for example. Or it can be an embracing to change. It can signal a transition. Like the first yellow leaf among its green siblings in the end of a summer, signals Autumn's impending arrival. A change of season. A transition or a transitional period.
Same can be said for us. We are born as babies and become children. Then we stop being children and become teens. And later on we grow to adults. Those are transitions and most often than not, signs are there. You can see it happen if you know what to look for. Like that first yellow leaf I was talking about before. Yet we all were babies and then children and then teens and then adults right? So in a way we are all the same...? And again, how is that for a contradiction? But if we focus on contradiction, we are missing the point. We are missing the transition, the change that will happen with or without our acknowledgement anyway.
We are missing life on the making. Cause in the end of the day, being different is part of life itself. And life never asks for our permission or acceptance. It just... happens. Like John Lennon said once, “Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”. So, if by now you are thinking, how can we be the same yet different from each other and what life, leaves or Lennon have to do with it, I wouldn't blame you. Most probably, I'm to blame, confusing you with words. But here's the thing. There is one big (and I mean really big), small distinction that may help you understand where I'm going with this.
There is Same and then there is Similar and there is Equal. Same is not Similar nor Equal. There is no difference in Same. It cannot exist in that realm. Never could or ever will. If it could, then Same would not be, by definition. But there can be a great deal of difference in Similar and Equal. That's the key. No one can be different if we are all the same. But we are not the same. No one is the exact same like someone else. Similar maybe, but not Same. But all else aside, we all are born as equals. And that's why we can be different from each other.

The central element of the IG Metall building in Berlin is the light-flooded staircase that connects all floors. A generous spiral staircase with a diameter of almost 5 metres is a place of movement and communication in equal measure. All metal parts are made of brass and the balustrades emphasize the round shape of the staircase. The staircase can only be viewed and photographed from below, unfortunately climbing up is not permitted. The IG Metall building has been a listed building since 1971.
Spoonbills are a genus, Platalea, of large, long-legged wading birds. The spoonbills have a global distribution, being found on every continent except Antarctica. The genus name Platalea derives from Latin and means broad, referring to the distinctive shape of the bill. Six species are recognised, which although usually placed in a single genus have sometimes been split into three genera. All spoonbills have large, flat, spatulate bills and feed by wading through shallow water, sweeping the partly opened bill from side to side. Ibises are a group of long-legged wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae, that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains. Ibises usually feed as a group, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. It is widespread across much of Australia. It has a predominantly white plumage with a bare, black head, long down curved bill and black legs. They are monogamous and highly territorial while nesting and feeding. Most nest in trees, often with spoonbills or herons. Due to its increasing presence in the urban environment and its habit of rummaging in garbage, the species has acquired a variety of colloquial names such as tip turkey; and bin chicken, and in recent years has become an icon of popular culture, being regarded with passion, wit, and, in equal measure, affection and disgust. 48963
