In my parents photograph album is this photograph of my Granddad, Arthur Geary covered in grime at work as the Cupolo Foreman at Stanton Ironworks in 1947. I wonder what the H & S boys would make of these working conditions.

One from the family album from circa 1918 with my wives Grandad (Thomas Wake), Nanna (Dora Wake), Uncle Bill and Aunty Dorothy. At this time Tommy Wake was serving in the Royal Navy and my wife’s mother has yet to arrive on the scene. Of the four only Dora I did not meet and Tommy lived until a couple of days before his 100th birthday.

I have just learnt that one of my favourite Aunties, Aunty Doreen is poorly in hospital and it reminded me of this 1950 portrait of Doreen from my Mums photo album, which I thought I would share. Doreen is around 20 years old here and it is taken at Studio Loraine, Nottingham, also visited by my Mum a number of times between 1945 and 1955.
Doreen recovered from her spell in hospital in December 2018 when I posted this photograph , however sadly passed away a couple of days ago on the 5th July 2021
Another scan from my Mum’s photo album and it is party time 1960 style with my Mum, Eileen (on the right) out with her pal Aileen. The party was John Beales Hosiery company “Firms Do” who I think my Dad worked for at the time. Mum would have been thirty three years old here.
