A 1937 Dodge just outside Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Gatlinburg, TN.

Well I am most thrilled to say it’s another first for these pages and boy what a scoop it is!!

What you are looking at there folks is a genuine Sky Harvester, or an Awyr Cynaeafwr as they are called here in greenest Wales. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Wales, this small and sparsley populated land, is not just a world leader in this kind of green technology, but decades ahead of the rest of the field.

The drivers of these high-tech gizmos are locally known as ‘Mad Maxers’ and this one here, he’s about to turn left and head towards those clouds you see there. When he gets directly below, he will extend those telescopic side arms upwards and they will in effect, snag the cloud which is then dragged back down to earth and then towed off to a Cwmwl Ysguboe for storage. These Cwmwl Ysgubors or ‘Cloud Barns” are, as you can imagine, enormous great affairs, but as you would expect from the creators of such advanced tech, great care has been taken to blend them into the countryside by making them look like hills. They can be seen throughout my landscape photos and I could easily point them out, but unless you have a keen trained eye - one like mine, you would mistakenly think you are just looking at an ordinary hill. Sigh. I know, I know ….frustrating right…. What can I say……apart from this is why Wales is so hilly - cloud barns.

In times of severe drought, the cloud barn is opened up and a cloud towed out to the brown and parched field. It is then caused to dissolve in effect through vibrational frequency undulation - but not another hi-tech gizmo, oh no, the method employed here is traditional and hands on. The entire inclusive green community will turn out men, women, children, babes in arms, grandmas and grandpas, and they will sing as one, as only a Welsh choir can sing and as they do they march bravely into the cloud voices undulating as they sing the song “the green green grass of home” which was famously introduced into the world psyche by the Welsh fertility god, boombox, Vegas blue rinse babe magnet, and some might say pop-singing Priapus incarnate, the icon and indisputable true King of all Wales by both birth and deed, the living legend that is - (put your hands together and have your underwear at hand) - Mr ….. Sir …..Tom …… Jones! And, as the inclusive eco friendly community choir close the song down, the cloud in effect melts and hey presto! We have rain, and of course, a very wet inclusive choir and re-greened agricultural field.

And that is why, generally speaking, Welsh people are such unbelievably fabulous singers with voices like angels, because from the earliest age, they have learned to sing in the clouds……

We need to be environmentally savvy while updating our Infrastructure and make sure that we are going green.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

Recycling is really developed in Germany, almost every type of bottle and container can be recycled and there is a very good system for doing so. Here is a view into a recycling machine which recycles cola, beer and milk bottles and credits back the Pfand (or deposit) to the consumer. You slide the bottle on the conveyor belt, then the belt catches the bottle and spins it while a blue laser light (which is on in this picture) flashes and reads the UPC code. That way it knows the proper amount of the Pfand and also the brand name of the soda or beer the bottle belongs to. Then the bottle slides further along the belt where it is sorted and at the end, the consumer is given a voucher for all the deposits which they can then trade in for cash.

When Her Majesty The Queen officially opened the building in November 2013, it was declared the most environmentally-friendly building in the world. The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), an internationally acclaimed system of assessing buildings, gave 1 Angel Square a score of 95.16% - the highest ever awarded.

I've often mentioned that I work at RONA, which is a Canadian competitor to Home Depot and Lowes.

When I was growing up, our family business (Pleasant View Farms) was engaged in the wholesale and retail sales of farm and landscaping/nursery supplies: hardware, fencing, pesticides, plants, hay/straw for bedding, containers, firewood, seed, clothing, paint and on and on.

In 2002, after many years in various endeavours (museums, teaching English, marketing, I was accepted in the seasonal department at RONA, where I employed the skills and knowledge that I had garnered so many years before at Pleasant View Farms.

If you visit while I'm at RONA, you'll likely find me in the greenhouse and/or garden centre. I also spend a good deal of time on the seasonal hardware floor.

It's just part-time... a day or two a week, but it suits nicely.

A logo on a dusty vintage soft drink bottle, probably from the 1940s. In those days, you used to pay a deposit which was refunded when you returned the bottle to the shop. They built them to last, they were used time and time again and nobody worried about a few minor chips or scratches.

A sickly-sweet red fizzy liquid, Tizer used to be quite popular in the UK. I haven't seen it for years so assumed it was obsolete but apparently they still make it, just not in a glass bottle!

So what beat off the Volvo V50, Mazda 6 & BMW 320D to become the new crayzy ray mobile. Well here it is. Looks pretty ordinary you might say, but it's a petrol/electric hybrid. Some technical stuff to be found here: www.hybridcars.com/prius.html

For the money it comes fully loaded, sat nav (essential) rear parking tv assist thingy. The only real drawback is the CVT gearbox... I'd really prefer a manual.

Oh and it's name as provided by Louise & Emily is "Connie the big green mean machine". I may have got one or two of those adjectives in the wrong order, I'm not really sure.

I dread to think what turboman2002 is going to say.

Hats off to the Ontario Government for allowing these! Some municipalities here in the Province of Ontario actually banned the use of clotheslines by instituting by-laws. The former City of Kanata was one such municipality that would not allow them.

Even if you don't agree with the Liberal Government, you have to agree that this was a good move!

Here is the News Release that was released today April 18th.

ONTARIANS GET TO AIR THEIR LAUNDRY

McGuinty Government Lifts Ban On Outdoor Clotheslines

NEWS

This summer, Ontarians will have the choice to dry their laundry on an outdoor clothesline.

Premier Dalton McGuinty said the province is putting an end to some restrictions that prevent people from using outdoor clotheslines. This includes agreements between home builders and buyers in some towns and cities in Ontario.

Using outdoor clotheslines instead of electric dryers can:

Save consumers $30 per year when they reduce their dryer use by 25 per cent.

Cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Reduce demand on the power grid — home dryers use about 900 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

QUOTES

"There's a whole generation of kids growing up today who think a clothesline is a wrestling move. We want parents to have the choice to use the wind and the sun to dry their clothes for free," said Premier McGuinty.

"We want every Ontario family to have the tools they need to save energy and save money. Just using a clothesline instead of a dryer can make a significant difference to your pocketbook, reduce demand on the electricity grid, and help keep our air clean," said Energy Minister Gerry Phillips.

QUICK FACTS

Florida, Utah and Hawaii have laws in place that ensure people can use clotheslines. Similar legislation is being considered in Vermont.

Electric clothes dryers use about six per cent of electricity in the home — as much as a refrigerator running 24-7.

Over the course of a year, five clothes dryers could result in roughly the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as an average-size car.

This card is part of a series of ATCs/ACEOs that feature one letter of the alphabet needlefelted onto a contrasting color of wool.

The card is the standard size (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") and is made with 100% sheep wool. The letter and background are both needlefelted with a single barbed needle onto a white wool base.

This card (and the alphabet series) came about because both of my daughters are learning their alphabet and starting to read and write. Both are hands-on, visual learners. They are using the cards to put the letters in alphabetical order, group vowels/consonants, and spell words.

I use a rather eclectic approach for homeschooling, and like aspects of both the Waldorf and Montessori philosophies.

This combines the Waldorf aspect in that the item is made from all-natural, beautiful materials.

It is a modification of the Montessori aspect in that rather than working with wooden shapes of letters as a child learns her/his alphabet, reads, and spells, the child works with the image in wool.

For families/teachers/home educators, please see my profile for more information.

For those who enjoy trading ATCs, if you are interested in trading one of your cards for this needlefelted one, please comment below or email me.

This, believe it or not, was the packaging used in a parcel my daughter received today! Definitely not to eat though, as it was packed around some bath bombs, and now smells of 'Waving Not Drowning', 'Sex Bomb' and Geo Phyzz'....

At 58 stories and 974 ft, the Comcast Center is the tallest building in Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania. It is the nineteenth tallest building in the United States. The skyscraper was designed by achitect Robert A. M. Stern for Liberty Property Trust. The Center's lobby features the "Comcast Experience", a 2,000 square feet

high-definition LED screen that in this photo shows a baseball player.

In addition to the "Comcast Experience", the glass-atrium lobby hosts Jonathan Borofsky's "Humanity in Motion" - ten life-size human figures walking across horizontal girders crossing at different levels of the atrium. On the lobby floor, looking up at the stainless steel figures, stand two more figures, a father and son.

Frankfurt am Main

The image shows a bus belonging to the Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) in Frankfurt. The bus bears the slogan "Ich bin ein Stromer!" ("I'm an electric vehicle!"), referring to its electric drive. The bus has a colourful design with bright lines running dynamically across the side. The bus is parked at the side of the road on a paved pavement. The image promotes environmentally friendly mobility and sustainable transport in the city.

This is an “Eco Friendly” development at Primrose Hill in Huddersfield, I can’t tell you much about this place other than to say that it is supposed to be environmentally friendly and constructed from sustainable materials.
