In downtown Utica, New York, on September 2nd, 2016, the Genesee Tower Apartments, formerly the Utica Fire Insurance Building, formerly the Utica City National Bank Building, as viewed from the top level of a parking garage on the south side of Jay Street between Charlotte Street and Burnet Street.
The building was designed by Robert W. Gibson. Online sources variously give the building's Erection Year as 1902, 1903, and 1904.

The kitchen sink, Silestone quartz countertop, lit glass backsplash & engineered wood stairs to roof deck. We just had the sandblasted glass installed ( I still have to finish off the ends with the dark stained oak pieces I made - just like on top of the backsplash wall). The lit backsplash has a nice soft glow at night.

We put one more layer on top of this, followed by the hardboard.
The floor was made of 4 layers: the carpet underlayment, two layers of 7/16" oriented strand board, and a layer of hardboard. The second layer of strand board and the hardboard were both screwed down to make a stable, sturdy surface.
And Tim was careful not to duplicate any seams in material between layers, nor to leave any gap in the hardboard that might catch the tiny heel of a woman's high-heeled shoe.

This is the bed rail of my West Elm "Morocco" style bed. Their "Engineered Wood" side rail gave out within a month of owning this otherwise fine bed. A close examination of the 'wood' shows why.
On their King Size beds they put an extra leg in the middle of the span along the center rail, but not the left/right outside side rails. This is a mistake; the composite wood they use for these spans simply cannot take any strain, especially if too many of the seams happen to line up vertically. We were lucky no one was hurt by the collapse.
Regrettably, their customer service people were also sub-par (language issues, confusion, etc.) and eventually sent us an (incorrect) replacement part. Sigh. I finally just gave up (after months of trying) and now I'm getting around to what I should have done to begin with; building a replacement rail myself. DIY FTW.

We thought we had a set of 2' x 8' pieces of hardboard, but they weren't quite right. In one case we had to cut a few inches off the width but in a couple of other pieces, we needed to cut off just about half an inch.
A table saw would have been perfect but we didn't have one. I brought my circular saw and Brian did a great job cutting those narrow strips off.
Engineered wood is real wood, but instead of one solid piece it consists of three to 10 thin layers of wood, called plies, that are assembled and glued in a cross-ply construction.
We made a few trips from the garage carrying the strandboard stacked on the carts. We had too much on our first trip and the cart tipped over when we crossed a doorsill. We didn't make the same mistake again.
