Early morning at the Mormon barn. There were just three other people there when I was shooting so I knew the other vehicle had to be theirs. It was a truck with a logo for Antelope Canyons on it. I noticed these gentlemen were Native Americans so I struck up a conversation with them as I LOVE Antelope Canyon. They had a U-Haul van attached to their truck. Turned out they were on their way to Standing Rock to deliver a load of donations. I was so excited as I really believe in their cause. Had a nice visit and prayers that this situation will come out right. They are standing up for all our rights to clean water and sacred land.

While driving out of the Kaeng Krachan National Park I encountered a troupe of stump-tailed macaques alongside of the road. I quickly exited the vehicle and took this picture of the alpha male. Before I could reduce my focal length he had quickly slipped into the jungle.
Wikipedia: The stump-tailed macaque (Macaca arctoides), also called the bear macaque, is a species of macaque native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. In India, it occurs south of the Brahmaputra River, in the northeastern part of the country.
This Old World monkey travels quadrupedally, usually on the ground, as it is not very agile in trees. It is generally found in evergreen tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, at different elevations depending on the amount of rainfall in the area.

Ziva and Giotto at the first encounter.
By now, Giotto is part of our family and Ziva (spayed) likes him very much :-)
This image with colorful effects reminds me some scenes from the movie "Close encounter of third kind". In the center I can imagine the landing strip for spaceships... :)))

My dear Flickr friends,
Sorry for my absence these last weeks. I have been quite busy getting my own business (www.esthersfotografie.nl) of the ground.
This shot of the fox was an unexpected encounter. I was looking for foxes together with a colleague of mine. However we did not see them. We decided to look for other subjects to photograph and saw some grasshoppers. While we were taking photos of these beautiful small insects, I suddenly saw something moving at my leftside. As I looked up, I saw a fox at only one meter away. I softly said to my colleague not to be scared and I turned my camera immediately towards the fox which was apparantly very curious of what we were doing squatting in the long grass. And I was just thrilled to have my 50mm lens ready when needed.
The fox may have also been wondering why he was not the subject to be photographed. Anyway, the fox appeared very sudden, but also disappeared like winking.

I loved the almost dinosaur shaped feature on the beach, so Strange encounter by Father John Misty is perfect. You never know what awaits as you walk the sands. It's interesting to think that Icthyosaurs actually swam around when these rocks were laid down, as fossils have been found nearby.
There was a light rolling fog this morning which made its magic so I definitely did not want to crop. PLEASE ENLARGE to see how clear the extender picks up everything.
I have been taking a Wildlife Photography course this week where the instructor discussed using his Extender, so..... I went out early this morning to practice using the extender and was blessed with fog and herons disagreeing. Using an extender IS NOT for the faint of heart. Actually I missed some of the shots of this encounter because I was using a tripod and did not have time to zoom my lens back in to get the action.😣

Wishing you a fantastic week-end! :-)
Pedra do Frade (Friar's Stone) provokes the imagination of visitors when they encounter the monumental stone leaning on a rock by the sea. The stone located at the end of Morro do Gi - Laguna - Brazil. Received this name because of the resemblance to a Franciscan friar. It balances its 30 tonnes and defies the law of gravity, measuring 9 meters in height and 5 meters in diameter.
