Tenderly

-Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald-

Listen Here:

The evening breeze caressed the trees, tenderly

The trembling trees embraced the breeze, tenderly

Then you and I came wandering by

And lost in a sigh were we

The shore was kissed by sea and mist, tenderly

I can't forget how two hearts met breathlessly

Your arms opened wide and closed me inside

You took my lips, you took my love so tenderly

The evening breeze erased the trees, tenderly

The trembling trees embraced the breeze, tenderly

Then you and I came wandering by

And lost in a sigh were we

Oh, the shores were kissed by the mist, tenderly

I can't forget how two hearts met, tenderly

Your arms opened wide

And closed me inside

You took my chops away from pops, tenderly

Oh tenderly

Tenderly

Oh, oh

Being the first to cross the finish line makes you a winner in only one phase of life. It's what you do after you cross the line that really counts.

Ralph Boston

What really matters is that you do what you think is right, what you believe in, and you surround yourself with the people you care about in this world. That's what counts in this life.

No cotton here, but the barley is growing apace ;o)

The world has a backdrop of green here, and the intensity and delicacy of the various flowers from wild red roses to gentler daisies and these tiny chrysanthemums. I cut them to bring the summer indoors, as well as leaving the doors and windows open to let the fragrance of honeysuckle and roses in too.

I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying. -

Michael Jordan

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. -

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong. - Ella Fitzgerald

Don't let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don't like them. - Stacy London

Being yourself is one of the hardest things because it's scary. You always wonder whether you'll be accepted for who you really are. I decided to call my record 'Inside Out' because that's my motto about life. I don't think you ever succeed at trying to be anyone else but who you truly are. -

Survival can be summed up in three words - never give up. That's the heart of it really. Just keep trying. - Bear Grylls

The beach, sea and sky merged into a single sponge-like form whenever there were storms at Ministract Island.

To pass the time, we'd sit in the beach hut listening to Ella and Louis or Billie and by the time we'd finished arguing about whose version was best the storm would have passed...

Well it looks rather warmer than it was ... summer has been fleeting this year, and hot days quite rare! But the loch at Fyvie Castle is the best way to enjoy any sunny morning. 😊

Summertime · Ella Fitzgerald · Louis Armstrong

Summertime and the livin′ is easy

Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high

Oh, your daddy′s rich and your ma is good lookin'

So hush, little baby, don't you cry

One of these mornings

You gonna rise up singin′

Yes, you′ll spread your wings

And you'll take to the sky

Mm, but ′til that morning

There is nothin' can harm you

Yes, with daddy and mommy standin′ by .............

Lyrics to the song Black Coffee by Ella Fitzgerald:

I'm feeling mighty lonesome

Haven't slept a wink

I walk the floor and watch the door

And in between I drink

Black Coffee

Love's a hand me down brew

I'll never know a Sunday

In this weekday room

I'm talking to the shadows

1 o'clock to 4

And Lord, how slow the moments go

When all I do is pour

Black Coffee

Since the blues caught my eye

I'm hanging out on Monday

My Sunday dream's too dry

Now a man is born to go a lovin'

A woman's born to weep and fret

To stay at home and tend her oven

And drown her past regrets

In coffee and cigarettes

I'm moody all the morning

Mourning all the night

And in between it's nicotine

And not much hard to fight

Black Coffee

Feelin' low as the ground

It's driving me crazy just waiting for my baby

To maybe come around

My nerves have gone to pieces

My hair is turning gray

All I do is drink black coffee

Since my man's gone away

Love was blown away by the night wind

And the dream we shared fell apart

Now I'm all alone in the night wind

Wind that brought the blues to my heart...

Artone/Verve VV20.017 | Recording: USA | Pressing: Holland

Wikipedia reference

A re-recording of a tune she originally recorded two decades earlier, replacing the original fox trot beat with a perky conga sound. The track was a modified and expanded take on a very familiar nursery rhyme.

This pressing is misprinted: the song listed on the A side (and featured here) is actually on the flip (B) side. The B-side track, Goody Goody, is on the A side. On US Verve copies, Goody Goody is the A-side and Tisket on the flip; matrix numbers stamped in the runouts of this copy are based on the US catalog numbers and help reveal the error.

Eliza1946, described her love for lavendar and red roses as "i'm in heaven". These words are lyrics expressed in the song, Cheek to Cheek. My favorite version of this song is by Lous Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald

No one knows the plan designed for them, not even this piano. One year it's sitting in Detroit's premier African-American Luxury Hotel, being played by Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and others that stayed here during the 40's and 50's, and the next it's had all it's legs knocked off and stuck in a building owned by a city that would rather cement it's windows shut than renovate it.

Happy, sunny Valentine's Day💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

My Funny Valentine - Ella Fitzgerald

My funny valentine.💓

Sweet comic valentine.

You make me smile with my heart.

And your looks, your looks are laughable, unphotographable.

Yet you're my favorite work of art.

Is your figure less than Greek.

Is your mouth a little weak?

When you open it to speak, are you smart?

But don't change a hair for me, not if you care for me.

Stay little valentine. Please stay

Each day is valentine's.

Each day is valentine's day.💗💗💗

It is very important for me to grab the camera and document the beautiful light, and warm colours. Also because every year I am very surprised that the summer ends just as fast as it begins.

Maybe summer photography is one of my favourites, just because the subjects reminds me of the joy that the lovely song Summertime with Ella Fitzgerald brings to me.

´Summertime and the livin' is easy

Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high

Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good lookin'

So hush little baby, don't you cry.´

A fine romance, with no kisses

A fine romance, my friend this is

We should be like a couple of hot tomatoes

But you're as cold as yesterday's mashed potatoes

A fine romance, you won't nestle

A fine romance, you won't wrestle

I might as well play bridge

With my old maid aunt

I haven't got a chance

This is a fine romance
