For the Macro Mondays theme “Holiday Bokeh”.
"""Happy Macro Monday everyone!!"""", says this little blue elephant ;-)
Have a nice weekend!! ;-)
This is a very flat elephant, with little holes. I think it is a template to be used for Pergamano, but I'm not sure. And I don't remember how I got it .....;-)

I take pictures because I like it, not because I am good at it.

Due to excessive hunting in earlier years, very few elephants have tusks there. The animals with imposing teeth were hunted by trophy hunters and the genetic material could not be passed on to future generations.

Another piece of my elephant collection. The window gives weird reflections, suddenly this elephant has eyes.
For the Macro Mondays theme "Silver or Gold", I selected a little silver elephant and placed it on a golden paper. It was not easy to hold this pendant in one hand and taking the photo with the other hand ;-))
Happy Macro Mondays everyone!
This is one big elephant that i photographed while he was munching on some bushes and casting a wary eye on me.
This big Elephant performed the incredible act using his trunk to grab the juicy leaves. This unusual behaviour has rarely been photographed. (Satara, Kruger National Park, RSA)
Many thanks to everyone who chooses to leave a comment or add this image to their favorites, it is much appreciated.
Have a great weekend.

"They say an elephant never forgets. What they don't tell you is, you never forget an elephant."
Quote - Bill Murray
I found this elephant made of wood in a second-hand shop. it looks exotic, with an elephant head but the body and very large hands and feet of a human being. Don't know who made it…
It stands on the windowsill and attracts a lot of interest from passers-by. With its size 55cm height it's one of the tallest elephants of my collection. ;-))
Happy Sliders Sunday!
Elephant, (family Elephantidae), largest living land animal, characterized by its long trunk (elongated upper lip and nose), columnar legs, and huge head with temporal glands and wide, flat ears. Elephants are grayish to brown in colour, and their body hair is sparse and coarse. They are found most often in savannas, grasslands, and forests but occupy a wide range of habitats, including deserts, swamps, and highlands in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia.
The African savanna, or bush, elephant (Loxodonta africana) weighs up to 8,000 kg (9 tons) and stands 3 to 4 metres (10 to 13 feet) at the shoulder. The African forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis), which lives in rainforests, was recognized as a separate species in 2000 and is smaller than the savanna elephant. It has slender, downward-pointing tusks. The common belief that there existed “pygmy” and “water” elephants has no basis; they are probably varieties of the African forest elephants.

Mopani trees, also spelt mopane, grow extensively in Kruger National Park, especially in the central to northern region.
There are so many trees in this region, that one of the main rest camps, Mopani Rest Camp, is named after them!
It really is an area of mopani woodland, so much the more because the trees like to grow together, almost or totally excluding other flora. You could describe this type of area as mopani veld.
In this region, the mopani scrub often grows close to the road and there aren’t a lot of open grassy plains. This does make animal spotting harder as you’re more limited to looking in the fore and middle grounds rather than being able to scan the distance as well for wildlife
Elephants like to eat the leaves of the mopani, which are shaped like butterfly wings.
The mopani woodland is the main reason why I tend to shoot close-ups.
Towards the end of winter/early spring, the leaves turn into a beautiful copper color.

Some years ago I got this holographic elephant inside a cube of glass as a present. And with this new Macro Mondays theme 'Glass' I took the opportunity to photograph it, which was quite a challenge, it wasn't easy to focus on the elephant itself.
Happy Macro Mondays everyone ;-))

Elephants are the largest existing land animals. Three living species are currently recognised: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. These magnificent mammals spend between 12 to 18 hours eating grass, plants and fruit every single day!
Kruger National Park is a South African National Park and one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,623 km2 in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa, and extends 360 km from north to south and 65 km from east to west.

Sunset at Elephant Rock. In fact, it really looked like an elephant, but in the 2016 earthquake the head and trunk collapsed. It is next to the Three Sisters and at low tide gives access to more than 1km of Cliff beaches with other "Sisters", caves, arches, waterfalls....
Trying a different edit on animals and wildlife. This is a resident of West Midlands Safari Park, which is well worth a visit.

Addo Elephant National Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Port Elizabeth in South Africa and is one of the country's 20 national parks. It currently ranks third in size after Kruger National Park and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. I spent four consecutive days within the park which provided an amazing variety of wildlife.

The Elephant Whispers experience near Hazyview in South Africa, allows visitors to touch, exchange trunk greetings and offer tasty treats to tame and trained elephants ranging in age from nine to twenty six years.
This pachyderm was putty in my skilled hands (as you may well imagine). Her skin was so soft to the touch, I felt very privileged to share a a fleeting moment with her.
