Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is Lockdown song. I must admit I’m very bad at music… Singing and dancing are a challenge… Also, I can listen to one song for a very, very long time without even noticing that it was playing forever… Luckily for me my husband is the one in charge of music at our home. After all, he is a very talented musician with his own awesome YouTube channel (and if you want to see by yourself here is the link: www.youtube.com/c/NuTrixTheSynthGuy/about). And my husband si truly into electronic music so that is our main lockdown musical genre playing everyday. If i have to name one band it is Daft Punk for sure.
My picture was inspired by electronic music and you can see some kind of device to make music (I have absolutely no idea how does it work so dont ask me…). Of course, Red Lady, who was a very successful DJ few years ago, is here with us since she loves electronic music !!

An einem einzigen Abend hatten wir klare Sicht. Auf Sommarøy begann mein erstes Polarlicht - Aurora Boealis. Keine Bange, später am Abend wurde es noch viel viel besser.
We had a clear view in one evening. My first Northern Lights - Aurora Boealis - started on Sommarøy. Don't worry, it got a lot better later in the evening.

Tromsø ist mit 76.649 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2019) die achtgrößte Stadt Norwegens und die größte Stadt im Norden des Landes. Die Provinzverwaltung der Fylke Troms og Finnmark hat hier ebenso ihren Sitz wie der Arktische Rat.[2]
Der wichtigste Arbeitgeber ist das Universitätsklinikum in Nord-Norwegen (UNN) mit etwa 4.500 Angestellten. In Tromsø befinden sich eine Universität, die Norwegische Fischereihochschule, das Klima- und Umweltforschungszentrum Framsenteret und die Mack-Brauerei.
Geographie
Tromsø liegt 344 km Luftlinie nördlich des Polarkreises. Dies entspricht der geographischen Breite von Nord-Alaska. Tromsø beheimatet nicht nur die nördlichste Universität, sondern auch die nördlichste Kathedrale der Welt.
Tromsø ist mit einem administrativen Stadtgebiet von 2.558 km² (davon 1.434 km² auf dem Festland und 1.124 km² auf mehreren Inseln vor der Küste) die flächengrößte Stadt Norwegens.

The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsø is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.
The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The city is a cultural centre for its region, with several festivals taking place in the summer. Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp and Lene Marlin grew up and started their careers in Tromsø. Noted electronic musician Geir Jenssen also hails from Tromsø.

Testing out an old Pentax lens - ignore the EXIF, I forgot to change the setting even though the camera prompts me. There are no electronic contacts with the camera body so I don't know what aperture this was shot at, but it was probably f5.6. Managed to get rid of most of the lens flare with SilkyPix's Retouch tools. Happy Fence Friday!
You Can't See Me - Young female Bobcat making sure the coast is clear from dog walkers/hikers before scent marking and heading off on her hunt. This particular individual has a really nice rusty coloration that truly does justice to 'Lynx rufus'.

Phylidonyris novaehollandiae
With long, slender beaks and a tongue which can protrude well beyond the end of their beaks, New Holland Honeyeaters are able to probe for nectar in the deep flowers of Banksias and Grevilleas.
Calls: The voice comprises a loud 'chik', a fainter 'pseet' and some chattering notes. If danger, such as a bird of prey approaches, a group of honeyeaters will join together and give a loud alarm call.

Breeding season: any time of year; mainly summer and winter
Clutch Size: 2 to 3
Incubation: 18 days
Nestling Period: 16 days
Description: The New Holland Honeyeater is mostly black and white, with a large yellow wing patch and yellow sides on the tail. It has a small white ear patch, a thin white whisker at the base of the bill and a white eye. This honeyeater is an active bird, and rarely sits still long enough to give an extended view. Sexes are similar in looks, but females are slightly smaller in size. Young birds are browner and have a grey eye.
Similar species: One very similar species is the White-cheeked Honeyeater,Phylidonyris nigra. This species has a single large white cheek patch and a dark eye. The two species frequently occur together.
Distribution: The New Holland Honeyeater's range extends throughout southern Australia, from about Brisbane, Queensland, to just north of Perth, Western Australia.
Habitat: The New Holland Honeyeater is common in heath, forests, woodland and gardens, mainly where grevilleas and banksias are found. It is inquisitive and approaches humans. It also mixes with other types of honeyeaters.
Feeding: New Holland Honeyeaters are active feeders. They mostly eat the nectar of flowers, and busily dart from flower to flower in search of this high-energy food. Other food items include fruit, insects and spiders. Birds may feed alone, but normally gather in quite large groups. Most feeding takes place in lower areas of bushes and thickets.
Breeding: The New Holland Honeyeater's cup-shaped nest is made of bark and grasses, bound together with spider web. It is lined with soft material and is placed in a bush or tree, anywhere from ground level up to 6 m. Both sexes feed the chicks. A pair of adults may raise two or three broods in a year.

Macro of the Bose radio in our living room here in Altadena. It makes beautiful sound and I have it tuned constantly to KUSC, the classical music station in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California. The piece playing was a concerto for three violins by Tellemann. If you love classical music and have trouble finding a station in your area, I would urge you to try their streaming service on the internet at KUSC.org. People around the world enjoy this station! And, sorry that my camera and I became part of the photo!

Small In Frame - It took me a while to come around with the small in frame trend, but I think the switch to mirrorless and going back to using a zoom lens helped me explore and appreciate this type of photography more. The subject/eye autofocus allows me to compose these images real time, no more moving the focus point or focusing and recomposing. With a zoom, I am able to capture a portrait and a wider angle shot from the exact same spot I am standing. This is especially useful for fast subjects like hummingbirds - by the time you move, they are off the perch!
Loved the juxtaposition here of the colorful hummingbird with the dry vegetation.

This is someplace along Amboy Road. A late friend used to go to Las Vegas over this road. On the way to Roy's from Twentynine Palms, we negotiate Sheephole Pass, flash past the unpaved Old Mojave Road, and wind up here at Bristol Lake — flanked by chloride mining on both sides of the road. It's a "lake" only in name. Like Trona, there's a dry lakebed here where commerce vacuums up minerals. It's the european immigrant view: any minerals left in the ground are "going to waste," eh?
The road is nearly a straight line for just under 5 miles. Few people observe the speed limit or the center line prohibiting passing in some places. The Highway Patrol surprises us with a driving skills lesson from time to time for the best of reasons. It may take a solid hour for a ground ambulance to get out here. If the weather is good, Mercy Air, REACH, or an aeromedical helicopter from Las Vegas may take patients to Loma Linda or Arrowhead Regional within that trauma golden hour. People would be less apt to "speed" if they knew how far out on the edge of the emergency medical services system this place is. It's not quite the Australian Outback but it's a miniature California version.
I stopped to keep a Highway Patrol officer company recently. One of his Ford Police Explorer's Goodyear police service tires (good for 125 miles-per-hour continuous) was flat. There was so much electronic junk in the back of the patrol car that he couldn't get the spare tire out of the under floor-location. I think of law enforcement as dirty business with some honest participants. He was a fellow human being waiting for a tow truck.
Looking straight ahead, the Bristol Mountains tower over us. Reaching Amboy, we are forced into taking National Trails Highway, formerly Route 66. Turn left toward Barstow or right toward Kelbaker Road?

A nice electronic device, but unfortunately obsolete - because the battery pack is not loading anymore. Now the bears use it for climbing and sliding before it is going to the recycling center. What a shame that the battery pack cannot be replaced - that's not environmentally-friendly and a real waste... In fact, I do not like those one-way items which cannot be repaired or partly be replaced.
Just to make it clear: ONLY THE SWEEPER IS OBSOLETE AND NOT THE BEARS !!!

Created in 1968, this work was in the inaugural show at the Studio Museum in Harlem when it opened in 1968. The alternating colored lights work in a programmed pattern reminiscent of traffic signals and theatre marquees. The pieces entered the Museum's collection in 1996 and by that time 3 of the 4 original motors were lost, the patterns seen now are approximations of the original programming.

Clockmaker Hugo Stanley established his clockmaker's shop in Lahti, Finland, in 1924. Besides keeping the shop he started to make electronic clocks and when 10 years were passed he came to establish a clock factory. Stanley's clock factory mainly
made electric functioning central clock systems to rail stations, schools and factories. The clock factory also made clocks to use outdoors and different "accurate" devices.
Information from late Timo Tuomivaara: "During the last years of WW2 the Finnish army asked Hugo Stanley to make new
handcuffs very fast, because there weren't any handcuffs available to the market. His son has told that he and his father packed about 1 000 handcuffs to small, green boxes and the boxes were sent to the frontier to the military police and officers."
The lock system was made for working with the same key as the Finnish Konepaja Voima handcuffs since they also were in use on the field. The Hugo Stanley's factory employed about 10 people and was equipped with very up to date machinery. After Hugo Stanley died in 1956 his sons Arent and Oswald Stanley continued the clock factory until 1972 when they went out of
business.
The Hugo Stanley handcuffs are high precision piece of work, what else could you expect from a clock maker?

This Acacia/wattle is a variable shrub, with dense foliage and a rounded shape, usually about 2 metres in height, but occasionally to 5 metres. Not sure which variety Acacia it is. Looks like "Townsville wattle".
