Last month we went to see the Hoover Dam near Las Vegas, Nevada. We first walked on the bypass bridge, which is also an impressive structure. This is the view downstream from the center of the dam.
I processed a balanced HDR photo and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, then selectively blended them together.

Decided to start photographing Dams with my drone I photographed 3 Dams in Connecticut this was the third one, but shot this image with my Leica m10 on the ground. This panorama image was created by merging 7 images in photoshop. I shot this handheld I usually will do this with a tripod but, it merged perfectly anyway.
Just up road from Sir Christopher Wren – though at a different time – lived the scientist Michael Faraday (1791-1867), who spent the last nine years of his life in this house in Hampton Court Road, East Molesey. The house, currently up for sale, is in pretty wretched condition and has clearly seen better days.
Michael Faraday is regarded as one of the most influential scientists in history. He discovered the laws of electromagnetism (the principle behind the electric transformer and generator), invented the first electric motor, and built the first electric generator, which helped pave the way for today’s mechanised age. He was given official lodgings here, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to science; this is also where he died.

This electrical generator sat on this location, Kaweah No. 1 power plant, and was in service from 1899-1929 providing electrical power to Tulare County.

It's a Special Move Sunday feature on the southwest Transcon with this behemoth of a GE generator being pulled by the CSXT 52. This train is billed out of Smithboro, IL and is going to Needles, CA to be unloaded and trucked to its final destination. The almost 30 year old YN2 painted leader is about to pass a yellow signal and will be stopping in Holbrook to allow 2 more EB trains to pass them before crossing over to M1 for some clearance issues ahead.
Later today and after the crew change in Winslow, this unit would go belly up at Flagstaff with an inoperative brake bail off valve that was report yesterday, but Mechanical said "Send It!"

A close up view of this large generator was gotten while they waited for 2 more trains to pass them before crossing over to Main 1 due to some clearance issues ahead. Per a friend that had information from the last one like this to move through here, this is a 2 pole, hydrogen cooled generator that is capable of a 200 million watt output at 3600rpm.

Impossible Project PX70 COOL
From Friday the 29th until Sunday, the first of July, we were without power. The whole idea of not having television and in a way being cut off from most of modern technology was enjoyable, but the heat was unbearable. With temperatures going well into the upper nineties and low one hundreds we had to keep cool somehow. So we used an old generator and switched between keeping our fridges and freezers going during the day and having our air conditioner going at night.

Built in 1904 at the foot of Horseshoe Falls, opened in 1905 and closed in 1999.
The Ontario Power Company hydro-electric generating plant also opened in 1905. This American based company built its generating plant at the base of the Horseshoe Falls just above river level.
Water enters this generating station from an inlet located one mile upstream of the Falls near Dufferin Islands and is brought to the plant through buried conduit pipes and steel penstocks tunneled through the rock.
The fifteen generators produced 203,000 horsepower (132,500 kilowatts) of 25 cycle electric power. This plant has twice been flooded by ice and water in 1909 and 1938 putting it out of service each time for many months.

Both Henry Ford's Fairlane estate in Dearborn and the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house were designed so that they could generate their own heat and electricity provided by separate powerhouse buildings.

This electric generator was powered by the water turbine seen in the adjacent photo. It was installed in Spokane, Washington, in 1903 and operated until 1990. It was part of a Washington Water Power Company facility that provided power to silver mines 100 miles away in Idaho.
The generator stands more than 10 feet tall. It was built by the General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York. It operated at 4000 volts AC and generated 1300 KW.
Seen at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan.

Because of frequent and unpredictable power outages, every factory in India must have their own power generator.
This one is made from a diesel truck engine (probably a TATA) , converted into a static electric generator.
