Electric Drive is a mobility hub that features bike sharing, car sharing, access to the hike-and-bike trail, and charging options for two- and four wheel electric vehicles (EVs). It is a key component of Austin Energy's Plug-In EVerywhere network and demonstrates Austin as a Smart City leader in electric transportation. Plug-In EVerywhere allows EV drivers to charge at 1000+ charging ports throughout Austin for only $4.17 a month.
Straight ahead is the iconic City of Austin Power Plant sign outside the Seaholm Power Plant, a historic former power station located on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin. Opened in 1951, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
The plant remained an active part of the city’s power generation system until 1989. Re-development of the plant began in 2013. The interior of the turbine generator building was converted to a mixture of office, retail and restaurant space, with tenants occupying the facility beginning in 2015.

On-Board-Kameras, Lasertechnologie und GPS-Navigation ermöglichen dem Fahrzeug das selbstständige Fahren auf der Straße, also ohne den Eingriff eines Fahrers.

Autonomous driving is considered to be an important element for the mobility of the future.
The future has already begun in Monheim am Rhein near Düsseldorf.
For over a year now, five electric minibuses have been driving through the city on a set route of around two kilometers. The special thing about it: You move automatically. On-board cameras, laser technology and GPS navigation enable the vehicle to drive independently on the road, i.e. without the intervention of a driver.

Eine Kleinserie von 50 smart fortwo electric drive - smart mit Elektroantrieb - ist ab Sommer 2010 im Grossraum Zürich unterwegs. Unter dem Motto «gemeinsam lernen» werden Erfahrungen mit Elektromobilen gesammelt. ewz beteilligt sich - in Zusammenarbeit mit EKZ - an einem Pilotprojekt mit smart. Ziel ist es, Schritt für Schritt die Voraussetzungen zu schaffen, um mittel- bis längerfristig den verschiedenen vielfältigen Mobilitätsbedürfnissen gerecht zu werden. Nebst der Alltagstauglichkeit der Fahrzeuge werden Aufbau und Akzeptanz der Ladeinfrastruktur praxisnah getestet.

This 1602, to all appearances the same of thousands of 02s that helped build BMW's success, is 100 % electric. It was unveiled at the Munich Olympic Games in the heart of Bavaria, BMW territory. The 1602 was in full running order using an ingenious system of interchangeable batteries. It was the first step on the road that led to today's i-BMW's.

Eine beschränkte Anzahl smart fortwo electric drive wird in europäischen Metropolen wie Berlin, London, Paris und Rom ausgewählten Kundinnen und Kunden geliefert. Mit einer Reichweite von bis zu 135 Kilometern bietet sich der Zweisitzer für umweltfreundliches Fahren im urbanen Umfeld an. Der smart kann an jeder konventionellen Haushaltssteckdose aufgeladen werden. Im November 2009 wurde die Produktion einer Serie von 1000 smart mit elektrischem Antrieb gestartet.

A legend that was an inseparable part of the French automotive scene from the 1960s to the 1990s, Renault’s first front-wheel drive car, the Renault 4, introduced a rear tailgate, long-travel suspension and an excellent load capacity. In 2021, to celebrate the model’s 60th anniversary, the manufacturer had five cars converted to electric power.
It chose versions symbolising the model, which were completely restored by the staff at the Collection before being sent to EV Europe, a Dutch specialist which carried out the conversion, replacing the petrol engine by an electric motor and installing the batteries. The motor is directly connected to the gearbox, which is locked in third, with an electrical inverter providing reverse gear. A screen has been added on the left-hand side of the dashboard to display the information specific to the electric powertrain. The car produces about 30bhp and has a range of approximately 100km.
This Renault 4 has been rebuilt in the style of the ‘Jogging’ limited edition which came out in 1981 and was aimed at young buyers; only 5000 units were produced, and they are impossible to find nowadays. Finished in white with blue accents, it has a large blue sunroof and superb leather upholstery in the same colour. The tailgate has a ‘Renault 4, 60 Anniversary’ logo and the odometer is reading just over 1000km, doubtless the distance it has covered since being converted. The car can only be registered in the Netherlands. This car offers the ease of use of an EV and is sure to appeal to Renault 4 enthusiasts with a liking for its limited-edition models.

The fastest electric car on the market
Elegant, electrically powered sports roadster by the American marque Baker, which at the time was one of the largest producers of electric city cars in the US. With this model Baker tried to make his electric cars look like the petrol-powered competition. The radiator however had no function and the batteries were located in the front under the ‘bonnet’. The floor-mounted dashboard was made up of one Volt and one Ampere gauge. The battery charger can also be seen here.
Walter Baker started working with electric motorcars as early as 1893 and set up his own company in 1899. Although he was successful initially, the popularity of the electric car waned due to the rapid development of the internal combustion engine. The invention of the electric starter, for example, made cranking a thing of the past. Baker halted the production of electric cars in 1916.
