"Between the hours of 10 and 2,

oppressive, agitating, conflicting thoughts.

Where, why, how, jumble and mix,

anxiety rising-no relief in sight.

Ahhh, dissipating tensions, all is well,

the anonymous tormentor departs."

EID MUBARAK

Butchers knives and honing steel arranged on a footpath during Eid-ul-Adha

The majority of Bangladeshis (about 90%) are Muslims. In the religious occasion Eid-ul-Azha (Qurbani) around millions of animals sacrifice by devoted Muslims in Bangladesh.

Before Eid-ul-Azha, Every night thousand of animals came from different part of Bangladesh for sale in the Market. The traders were waiting whole night in the market for more selling their animal and have to wait good price. The innocent animals don’t know after that night they are going to be sacrifice.Numerous temporary marketplaces of different sizes called Haat operate in the big cities for sale of Qurbani animals (usually cows and goats).

The celebration of Eid ul-Adha is similar to Eid ul-Fitr in many ways. The only big difference is the Qurbani or sacrifice of domestic animals on Eid ul-Adha. It’s too hard to sell a domestic animal.Sacrifice of an animal will not be in order if it is one eyed, or blind, or has lost one third or more of its eyesight, or one third or more of its tail, or its ear has been cut off, or it is lame, or its bones have no marrow.

The aim of sacrifice, like all other fundamentals of Islam, is to imbibe piety and self-righteousness. It also promotes the spirit of sacrifice for a right cause. To explain its purpose, God says in the Quran. “It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches God, It is their piety that reaches God”: (22:37)

TOKYO: November 27 ? A young Japanese Muslim girl offering dua after Eidul Azha prayers at Tokyo Masjid. APP photo by Jahangir Khan

A Muslim girl displays her hands - but hides her face - to reveal beautiful mehndi on the occasion of Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Azha, also known as Eid-e-Qurban. On this day, Haj in Makkah comes to an end and the slaughter of halal animals (lamb, goat, cow, camel) commences. Across the world Muslims, who can afford to purchase the animal, celebrate Eid starting from Eid prayers and then slaughtering their animals, as per Islamic injunctions. The meat is then distributed among relatives, friends and poor people. Some meat is also kept at home for month long consumption. Eid is celebrated for three days and slaughtering of animals may be performed on any of these days.

Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The scenes from the Asia's largest cattle market which is set at outskirts of the city of Karachi on Eid-ul-Azha. every year, where hundred of thousands of visitors do come to buy the sacrificial animal of their choice -the act that Muslims world over perform following the SUNNAH of Prophet Ibrahim (Aleyhissalam) and his son Prophet Ismail (Alehissalam).

EXPLORED

Taken at Madhabpur Lake, Shreemanogol, Bangladesh.

( There is a wonderful small lake in Madhabpur ( a few kilometers away from "Lawachara Rain Forest" , Sreemongol), where I found these lovey flowers in abundance. Local people call it Neel Poddo ( Blue lotus ), but it is really a variety of Water Lily.

But what ever you call it, it is simply magnificent. )

During the Eid Day! Islamabad City looks so empty. No matter how it looks, it still is one awesome city!
