The Efteling Museum is a museum about the history of Efteling located in the Marerijk at the Anton Pieckplein. The museum consists of three exhibition rooms, including the so-called 'Wonder Depot' with a permanent collection and one room with an annually changing exhibition. At the beginning of 2018 a large part of the attraction has been demolished and then re-built. That is the first time that the Efteling does that at a major attraction. A part of the old track was saved and kept in a patio of the Efteling Museum on the Anton Pieckplein.

In memory of Bob, the bobsleigh roller coaster opened in 1985 and closed in 2019. A photo of the early days of this oldie in the Efteling Museum. So we never forget.
Bob
The Bob, Bobbaan, Bobsled or Swiss Bob is a bobsled attraction in Anderrijk. It is a rollercoaster type where visitors get the feeling that they are sitting in a bobsleigh. This effect is achieved by letting the transport means drive through a gutter instead of over the usual rails. In the Efteling, the bobs, each with an arrangement of two people next to each other in rows of three, rush through a steel gutter with coating.
This attraction came from the Swiss Intamin AG catalog. The station was designed by Ton van de Ven, who gave it its Swiss / Austrian setting. The attraction is thus themed to the location of the original bobsleigh sport. The name Bob of course refers to this. The word is derived from the English verb to bob, which means moving up and down. The participants in a bobsleigh move forward and backward on straight sections to go faster. This is of course not necessary in the attraction.
De Bob opened in 1985 together with a series of thrillrides that Efteling built in the park in the early 1980s to attract the older youth to the park. The attraction is located on the avenue of Vonderplas to Pirañaplein, next to the Spookslot and behind PandaDroom. The entrance can be found between Het Seylend Fregat and the station building of the track. The exit is on the terrace of De Steenbok, next to Tyrolean Gijs. Little can be seen from the track itself from the hiking trails in the Anderrijk. There is more visibility from the Pardoes Promenade and the queue of PandaDroom, where the Bob passes the top.
The Bob will be in operation until September 2019, he will then be demolished and replaced by the new double children's roller coaster Max & Moritz, to be opened in spring 2020.

De Winter Efteling a week before the school holidays in December. Quiet and sometimes you have a part of the park for yourself. Almost, Vrouw Holle was here!
Vrouw Holle
Vrouw Holle (in English Mother Hulda), a fairytale based by the Grimm tale. The scene was designed by Pieck as Vrouw Holle. This story has been depicted, since the park opened, by a well. At the bottom of the well images are projected by Anton Pieck while a voice tells the story.
Since the winter of 2006, Mother Hulda is present in person with a new animatronic. If called upon, she opens the shutters of the cottage next door and shakes her pillow. And as in the tale, it starts to snow.
Vrouw Holle (Mother Hulda) is a fairy tale about two sisters who fall into a well in a wonderful world where the diligent daughter is rewarded and the lazy daughter is punished.
In the Efteling it is the fourteenth representation on the route in the Fairy Tale Forest, between Hansel and Gretel and Herautenplein.
It is one of the original ten fairy tales of Anton Pieck at the opening of the Sprookjesbos (fairytale forest).
Since 2006, the person Vrouw Holle, an addition by Robert-Jaap Jansen, has actually made it snow in the Fairytale Forest from her cottage. The cottage dates from before the opening of the Efteling.

The Efteling Museum has a small exhibition dedicated to the illustrator Anton Pieck, who was so important to the park. Without him, Efteling would have looked very different.

In the early 1950's, Anton Pieck is asked to help design a fairytale park with a playground. By that time, he is already an estalblished illustrator of famous fairytale books. Eventually Pieck makes about 1.,500 sketches and drawings for the park. Anton Pieck always stays very involved with Efteling. He visits monthly and is invited to festive events and attraction openings.
Efteling cherishes Anton Piecks legacy. The specific colours of his palette can still be found all over the park.

The Efteling Museum now has numerous objects and objects that have previously stood in the Efteling. It's nice to see the small changes, improvements and innovations that everything has undergone. Often the most special are the animatronics, the lower parts of a figure that has to perform this many times a day without any problems.

The Wonder Depot or Efteling Museum in De Efteling
The Efteling opened its gate in 1952 and has already a great history and a large variety of memorablilia. Very interesting place for the Efteling fans!

Efteling pays tribute to founder Anton Pieck. Since April 2023, a temporary exhibition about the work of the famous artist has been on display in the Efteling Museum on Anton Pieckplein. The focus is not on the fairytale park: the aim is to show what else Pieck has done in addition to his many drawings for Efteling.
For that reason the exhibition was given the subtitle A Surprisingly Versatile Artist. Pieck's creations are divided into four categories: Anton Pieck in the Efteling, Anton Pieck the painter, Anton Pieck the graphic artist and Anton Pieck the draftsman. Etchings, woodcuts, ink drawings and old photographs are shown.
Anton Pieck
Anton Pieck was born in Den Helder on April 19, 1895. It became clear from an early age that drawing would play an important role in Anton Pieck's life. When he was 6 years old he took drawing lessons and as an 11-year-old he won first prize at an exhibition about manual labor. For this exhibition Anton made a watercolor drawing of a still life. With this he won five tubes of paint and a fixing syringe. He became a drawing teacher at the Kennemer Lyceum in Overveen after training at the Royal Hague Academy of Visual Arts and Bik en Vaandrager. In 1922, Anton married Jo van Poelvoorde, with whom he had three children. On November 24, 1987, Anton Pieck died in Overveen at the age of 92.
At the end of 1951, Anton Pieck was asked by Peter Reijnders to participate in the creation of a fairytale park in Kaatsheuvel. At first Anton hesitated, but after a personal conversation between the two gentlemen he was convinced to cooperate. It is not known what ultimately made the difference, but Anton's wish package was accepted by Reijnders.
At the opening, the Fairytale Forest consisted of 10 fairy tales, namely: The Chinese Nightingale, The Frog King, The Magic Clock, The Six Servants, Sleeping Beauty, The Mushroom Village, The Talking Parrot, Little Message, Snow White and Mother Holle's Well. These fairy tales were the basis for everything that Anton Pieck would mean for Efteling in the future.

The Efteling Museum now has numerous objects and objects that have previously stood in the Efteling. It's nice to see the small changes, improvements and innovations that everything has undergone. Often the most special are the animatronics, the lower parts of a figure that has to perform this many times a day without any problems.
