Energy Trust (in Oregon) has a promotion where they'll send you a stack of free LED lightbuibs if you tell them your address. So we gave them our address and they sent us 12 high-efficiency 60w bulbs.
These puppies are /really/ bright, which is a bit of a problem because most of the light fixtures we've got in the house are happier with 30ilu (30 watts worth of incandescent lamp) lights, and these bulbs are ~80ilu, which is shockingly bright for a household where we've gotten used to wading through the murk of lower-powered lights.
Ah well, I'm sure we'll find some use for them. Maybe when I get the garashed cleaned out and wired I'll set up a bank of them overlooking my brazing table so I can have immediate feedback about botched frame/fork/stem/rack brazes)
(I've got to buy a lottery ticket, since I want to build up 5-6 sacrificial frames before trying to sell bespoke fop chariots to unsuspecting friends in the down time between rack orders :-)

Quadratic Voting (QV) aims to bring the efficiency of markets to collective decision making by pricing rather than rationing votes. The proposal has attracted substantial interest and controversy in economics, law, philosophy and beyond. The goal of this conference is to evaluate the promise of Quadratic Voting and to stimulate research on QV from a broad range of perspectives. Leading scholars from disciplines ranging from classics to cryptography will present their work on diverse issues related to QV, including the history of the ideas behind it, practical implementation for market research surveys, objections to the use of money in politics and how QV might have averted political disasters in history. The conference papers will be published in a special issue of Public Choice in 2017, following up on a parallel special issue forty years prior on the use of the Vickrey-Clarke-Groves mechanism for collective decisions.

Explosion prevention electric heater
1.small size and large power: the electric heater mainly uses cluster-type tubular electric heating elements.
2.fast thermal response, high thermal control accuracy, and high comprehensive thermal efficiency.
3.high heating temperature: the design working temperature may reach 850℃.
4.even media outlet temperature and high thermal control accuracy.
5.wide application scope and strong adaptability: the heater is applicable to explosion prevention or common applications, the explosion may reach Grade dII B and C, and the pressure resistance may reach 20MPa.
6.long service life and high reliability: the heater is made of special electric heating materials, the design surface power load is low, and multiple protection is adopted, so that the safety and service life of the electric heater will be significantly increased.
7.Available fully automated control: with the heater circuit design as required, the outlet temperature, flow, pressure and other parameters may be controlled automatically and conveniently and linked to computer.
8.Obvious energy conservation effect: the heat energy generated by power is almost fully transferred to the heating media. It is a form of energy utilization. Compared with common fuel heating, electric heating may generate high temperature (for example, the arc heating temperature may reach above 3000℃), thus being convenient to realize automatic control and remote control of temperature. The vehicle-mounted electric cup may enable certain temperature distribution of the heated object. The electric heating energy may generate heat inside the heated object directly, thus having high thermal efficiency and fast temperature increase, and realizing overall even heating or local heating (including surface heating) as well as vacuum heating and controlled atmosphere heating according to the requirements of heating technique.
In the process of electric heating, the generated amount of waste gas, residue and fume is small, thus keeping the heated object clean and not polluting the environment. Therefore, electric heating is widely used in the fields of production, research and experimentation, particularly in the manufacturing of mono-crystalline and transistors, machinery parts and surface hardening, ferroalloy smelting and artificial graphite production).
