Spiral staircase shot with 1 exposure 1 flash STU at bottom, 1 flash top of staircase bounced in corner, edited in LR, converted to BW in PS using Nik Silver Efex Pro

 

I forgot I had this in my "To Work On" folder, so finally done!!

Shot at sunset mid October in Whytecliff Park near Vancouver. Shot with 10 stop ND filter 151 sec @ F11 & as usual, edited in Lightroom Classic CC as well as Photoshop CC.

Today, I just want to sharing with you all my editing style to this "unhappy" photo of my little hero; Daniell. I found this deep in my October 2008 folder, and I love his face expression, sadly this photo is underexposed (see original below), I think thats why it has been there for so long time! I found it yesterday, and decide to do some editing to the photo using only Photoshop (as it was captured in JPEG). You can read my step by step editing in the description below, and there is original photo on my first post.

Location, Date & Time:

Darul Quran | 20 October 2008 | 06:33pm (+8GMT)

 

Canon EOS 350D + Kit Lens:

ISO400 (?), f/9, 1/30" at 25mm.

 

Photoshop CS3:

- Level adjustment; moving white bar to 155,

- Copy layer three times,

- At 3rd layer (the highest layer) do high pass sharpening at 5.5px,

- Duplicate high passed layer three times,

- Merge all high passed layer with 2nd layer,

- Blending mode; Hard Light at 100%,

- Merged this layer with the original layer (layer 1),

- Copy layer, add layer mask and do croping & erasing outside the eyes area,

- Level adjustment to this layer to make the eyes look more white,

- Merged this layer with original layer,

- New adjustment layer; Saturation (green) moved to 29,

- New adjustment layer; Saturation (red) moved to 15,

- New adjustment layer; Brightness moved to 51,

- Framing and watermark editing,

- DONE!

A re-edit of a photo I took and edited several years ago. I made a number of adjustments in Luminar 4 and applied a lookup table. The end result is completely different than the duotoned version I did previously.
