A favorite educational ambassador bird. This, once injured, unreleasable, beautiful European Barn Owl, sits patiently amongst the Spring flowers. She is much more comfortable up in the trees, but has been lovingly trained and occasionally tolerates "ground activities" for a few minutes. The flowers in the shot are commonly known as Gaillardia or Firewheel or Blanket Flower.
A male bird of this beautiful but skittish woodpecker species and one of my favorite European birds.
It spends a lot of time on the ground searching for ants, its main food source.

This ringed Robin has held this territory since at least 2019 so it getting on a bit. We haven't ringed there since before COVID. I've photographed him a few times in the intervening years

The European peacock, more commonly known simply as the peacock butterfly, is a colourful butterfly, found in Europe and temperate Asia as far east as Japan. It was formerly classified as the only member of the genus Inachis (the name is derived from Greek mythology, meaning Io, the daughter of Inachus.
