On top of the highest tower in Antarctica looking back at Concordia base that is 3200 metres above sea level.

Alexander Kumar and Sebastian Aubin had to climb 40 metres up the tower in –60°C to take this picture.

At these temperatures and at such altitude Alex and Seb work and live in constant hypoxia - lack of oxygen to the brain. Even simple actions can become complicated in these conditions.

During the winter period no sunlight reaches Concordia base for four months, the 13 crewmembers are on their own.

ESA is studying the effects of isolation and living with limited oxygen in preparation for future space mission.
