Edificio cuyo origen se sitúa en la catástrofe que padeció la ciudad con el embarrancamiento del petrolero Mar Egeo en diciembre de 1992. En aquella ocasión, el buque se aventuró a adentrarse en la bahía coruñesa en medio de un tremendo temporal. El desconocimiento del puerto por parte del capitán y las malas condiciones atmosféricas le hicieron creer que los muelles se encontraban en la ensenada del Orzán, por lo que en un principio tomó ese rumbo. Cuando se percató de su error, trató de tomar la dirección correcta, pero el oleaje arrastró al barco contra los bajos situados al pie de la Torre de Hércules, donde acabó por hundirse al día siguiente tras una explosión en sus tanques.
Las autoridades decidieron posteriormente que un puerto como A Coruña precisaba de una torre desde la que se controlase el tráfico marítimo con el fin de evitar nuevos desastres, proyecto que se puso en marcha con un presupuesto de 3,6 millones de euros y que culminó en mayo de 1995, fecha en la que el edificio fue inaugurado.
La construcción de la torre supuso una novedad tecnológica en la ciudad, puesto que sus dos columnas de hormigón, con 81 metros de altura, fueron levantadas mediante el sistema de encofrado deslizante, que hizo preciso el trabajo de forma ininterrumpida durante 24 días. Desde su conclusión, la torre se convirtió en una de las imágenes más representativas de A Coruña, tanto por el lugar sobre el que se alza como por la peculiaridad de su diseño.

I'm so sick & tired of being used by other people. The mental strength of a person has certain limits. There are times when you have to ask yourself....will I let myself be treated like garbage and dirt for even longer? I treat myself bad enough there is no room for people who only perceive me if their desire is not tangible. I'd rather stay alone than continue to swallow this garbage. Cuando me advertías en Toledo, que enfocar en macrofotografía era una especie de arte iniciático reservado a los más finos estilistas de la fotografía, creí sinceramente que exagerabas un poco.
Algunos días espués, cuando empecé a pelear con mi/tu fabuloso Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, no podía evitar una lucha feroz entre el cabreo primero y las carcajadas después, viendo como el autoenfoque se volvía loco y yo sentía tentaciones de pedir hora al psiquiatra porque, directamente, no había quien lograse enfocar donde me proponía enfocar.
Todo ello aderezado con un poco de viento, de posturas corporales inverosímiles y de encuadres con fondos sin ninguna clase de atractivo, lograron que mis primeras excursiones e incursiones en el alucinante (textualmente) mundo de la macrofotografía, fuesen una mezcla muy peculiar entre vía crucis, carcajada permanente, pelea a muerte con un sistema de autoenfoque fotográfico y dolor de piernas por los prolongados ratos en cuclillas.
Pero como todo en esta vida, a base de ensayo-error, uno va aprendiendo a corregir lo que hace mal, hasta que llega el día en que, ¡por fin!, consigue una obra medianamente presentable.

De 23 juli 2020 was een dag met aardig wat verkeer tussen Magdeburg en Braunschweig. Ik had de middag vrij genomen en was blij dat het weer ook meespeelde toen ik in Ovelgünne stond. Onder de vele treinen die voorbij reden was ook de LTE 186 941 Attracktive Forces die met een ketelwagentrein naar de Botlek onderweg was.
LTE 186 941 war am 23. Juli 2020 mit einem Kesselwagenzug nach Rotterdam Botlek unterwegs und wurde in der Ovelgünner Kurve fotografiert. Mittlerweile haben mehrere LTE Loks das Attracktive Forces Design (wobei es hier mehrere Versionen gibt)...
LTE 186 941 (with attracktive forces design - and yes, the spelling error is intentional) was spotted on July 23rd 2020 with a tank car train to Rotterdam Botlek in Ovelgünne...
