Massively hot day near the lake, with the sun blazing to provide shadows during May-gray. Again, trying some experimentation on a 'hybrid' grain film with an acutance developer like Rodinal. I'm finding the Fomapan200 really is more like an EI100 to 160 film, at least in this combination.

Juliet and I attended a camera/gear sale of the Olympia Photo Club and I picked up a couple cameras for the neighborhood kids and a box of dubiously labeled film. It looked like a bulk roll of 35mm film but the box was labeled “24 exposures” of FPP BW 100. Whatever it was, for $10 I wasn’t going to leave it behind. It turned out to be 100’ of ORWO UN54, which I’d not used before. ORWO’s film data sheet is comically brief, giving an approximate time for two developers, one being Kodak D96. Based on that, I estimated the time for Ichor 1:100 to be around 6:00. Juliet was kind enough to sit for me and I shot a few frames with my Nikon N90S and Nikkor AF DC 105mm f/2. It’s not the finest grained 100 speed film, but I like it!

(arista 200 @ EI100, dd-x)
I've concluded that arista 200 (ie fomapan 200) is barely even a 100 speed film, but it's fine at 100 I guess, at least it's cheap.

Delta film really is such a good platform for capturing tonality. The filtered sun was an interesting challenge, and the film and developer combination did well in capturing nice shadow detail and fine grain.

From the archives. This is from the same roll as the previous image. These two negs were full of ugly chalk spots etc. and back then I just didn't have the skills to remove them in post.
