Cosford have had a bit of clear out, some of the older, test bed aircraft have been either moved outside or are awaiting new owners. Luckily one of my favourites is still inside, it is the EAP, technology demonstrator for the aircraft we now call the Typhoon. It was built by BAe using the Tornado parts bin as a start point with a couple of Tornado engines, a tailfin and lots of other bits. After completeing trials and test it was retired to a university as a training airframe but is now complete and on display.

The SBAC show has had a long history of showing off British-built prototypes and development aircraft, but of course these have been far and few between over the past 20 to 30 years.
The EAP has built by British Aerospace at Warton as a private venture but with some UK Government money too. It was later developed into the Eurofighter Typhoon, so familiar over European skies today.

ZF534 first flew in 1986 and retired in 1991. In 1996 it went to Loughborough University where it was used to teach aeronautical engineering students, before being transferred to the RAF Museum at Cosford in 2012.
