Lupines zijn in staat stikstof uit de lucht te binden en daarmee de grond te verrijken.

Twickel, vliegenzwammen

Hoed bolvormig, dan uitgespreid tot vlak, Ø 8-20 cm, glad, helderrood,

oranjegeel verblekend, met vergankelijke, pyramidevormige, witte vlokken.

Lamellen wit.

Steel 8-18 x 1-2 cm, wit, aan de voet vlokkig, met een witte tot gelige ring. Vlees wit. Geur zwak.

Giftig.

Voorkomen

In bossen en lanen bij loofbomen (berk, eik, beuk, linde) en naaldbomen (den, spar) op zand- en veengrond.

Ectomycorrhizavormend.
