I live less than forty miles from Manchester and go in each week to sing less than a mile from the arena where the awful atrocity took place yesterday, an arena I myself have visited more than once. Words can’t describe how I feel today – this act of terrorism was close to home, and it hits home that much harder because of that. I wondered whether to leave off blogging for a few days but decided that the best way to react to stuff like this is to carry on as normal whilst staying aware of all those who have lost loved ones way before their time. It’ll make me feel good to keep on blogging like this, and I hope it makes you, my lovely reader, feel good too. I thought I could best send out a message by wearing the biggest dress I could find, and they don’t come much bigger than this new one from Sascha’s Designs.

Went train spotting again this morning , over to Pensarn on the North Wales Coast..Galatea quickly stepped in for the ailing Duchess of Sutherland ,which was due to run the Cathedrals Express to Holyhead.
Looking forward to next Saturdays double arrival in Chester :-)

Duchess of Sutherland's run from London to Bath and Bristol in brilliant winter conditions was the perfect way to sign off mainline steam for Bath in 2022. The weather was immaculate throughout with blue skies on a very chilly day would make for amazing exhaust from the Duchess against a think frost. The trip was to run via the South Western Main Line towards Salisbury before heading to Bath and Bristol via Westbury. Here we can see the Duchess pass the River Avon between Freshford and Avoncliff

Under a ragged sky on a windy March day, the Duchess of Sutherland speeds past Lunds with the northbound Settle and Carlisle tour, run by the Tyseley Steam Trust. March 12th 2022.

LMS Princess Coronation Class 46233 Duchess of Sutherland is a steam locomotive built in 1938 for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway at Crewe Works to a design by William Stanier.
Taken around 7.45 on 27/9/2014 with the sun barely up,46233 works north at Brock on the WCML with the Lowlander tour

As darkness approaches, the Duchess of Sutherland roars past Stockber with the return leg of the Tyseley Steam Trust Settle and Carlisle tour of 12th March 2022. The evening was calm after a windy day and the engine could be heard for miles, a memorable experience.

The return of Duchess of Sutherland to the Settle and Carlisle line after a gap of around five years certainly attracted some attention.
With all the hard work done on the climb up to Ais Gill the Duchess is seen coasting downgrade through the Eden valley at Lazonby on the 12th March 2022.
6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" speeds between Bracknell and Wokingham with the Railway Touring Company’s “Cardiff Christmas Express” tour from London Victoria to Cardiff Central.
Locomotive: LMS Stanier Coronation Class 4-6-2 Pacific 6233 "Duchess of Sutherland".
Location: Amen Corner, near Bracknell, Berkshire.
Due to an unfortunate incident at Ealing Broadway, the Duchess never really recovered from the 50 minute late start in the morning. She passed me at Little Fenton just under an hour late. This worked to my advantage though, as the sun had moved round enough to make the shot, had she been on time it would have been down the line.
Stanier 'Princess Coronation' 4-6-2 no.46233 'Duchess of Sutherland', having passing through Sherburn-in-Elmet, powers along the flat, straight, at Little Fenton with the late running "York Yuletide Express".
After a 5 year absence from the S&C, 6233 duchess of Sutherland returns in fine form with a vintage trains Tysley - Carlisle charter. Seen here at Lunds paddock

Approaching Metheringham station, Lincolnshire, on a damp day is the 'Duchess of Sutherland' making a grand entrance.
The LMS (London Midland and Scottish Railway) Princess Coronation Class No 6233 working 1Z80 the 'Christmas White Rose' day excursion from London Kings Cross to York and back. The return was done by diesel loco.
46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' has just emerged from the north portal of Blea Moor Tunnel into the sunshine at Dentdale, with the 06.04 Crewe - Carlisle 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'.
