The Palm Jumeirah is an archipelago of artificial islands in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, created using land reclamation which extends into the Persian Gulf. It is part of a larger series of developments called the Palm Islands, including Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira, which, when completed, will together increase Dubai's shoreline by a total of 520 kilometres (320 mi).[1] It has an estimated population of at least 10,000 as of 2017.[2] It is located on the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

Nice to know: I was sent away from this location by security personnel telling me that I was not allowed to take photo's with a professional camera and tripod. Totally nonsens as the boulevard/waterfront is public area. Although it might be owned by Emaar Properties, it remains public area as there ar no fences, entrances or whatsover. They tried to convince me not knowing that I work in the public sector on legal mathers. Stubborn as I am I continued shooting forcing the security guys making a phone call with their superiors ending up "allowing" me to take some photos. It's a hassle during a trip like this where time is really precious. You just don't have any time in useless discussions like this. So Emaar, if you read this: educate your personnel please!

Gangly heron with significant variation in plumage. Distinct dark morph is slate-gray with a white throat, while the palest morph is white with a yellow bill and lores. Pale gray intermediate morphs can also be found. Little Egret can look similar, but it has a darker bill than the white morph of the Western Reef-Heron. Primarily a coastal inhabitant, foraging on shorelines and in estuaries, but can also be found at some inland water bodies. (eBird)

The "Dubai Opera" is a performing arts center located in the "Opera District".
Completed in 2016 and opened on 31 August of that year with a performance by Plácido Domingo.
The building is multifunctional and can be converted from a traditional theater into either a concert hall, banquet hall or even exhibition space. Using hydraulic lifts and seating wagons to relocate 900 of the 2,000 seats, the space can be used for events while the extra seating is stored beneath the theater. Design by Janus Rostock of Atkins, the shape shall resemble a dhow (traditional Arabic sailing vessel)

This sharply attired black-and-white starling has a pointed yellowish bill with an orange base. Mainly black upperparts with white belly and white rump noticeable in flight. Note the bare, deep orange patch around its eye that contrasts with its white cheek. Easternmost birds have a white, streaked forehead. Seen in loose flocks close to human habitation feeding on human refuse. Garbage dumps, damp grazing lands, and well-watered parks are its favoured haunts. Noisy with a variety of calls that includes mimicked sounds of other birds. (eBird)

As we were getting organized to start the morning's birding, this lovely starling flew into the trees along the highway and sang briefly. A great start to Dubai birding.

Continuing the Cityscape of Dubai is the final approach into our docking position, past the section of buildings that show the 'Twisted' Masterpiece in more of its glory.
Shot back in 2009 while on a visit with my son in Dubai. Got a bit of a hassle with the local constable but after explaining what I was doing, he was okay.with it.
Dubai's oil revenue helped accelerate the early development of the city, but its reserves are limited and production levels are low: today, less than 5% of the emirate's revenue comes from oil.
