Clover has been learning to drive...Though I was abit nervous when she drove into the hardware store's parking lot!!..she's not real keen on the brakes yet. But you will notice the intense focused look on her face. She knows exactly what she is doing.
"Marble, why can't I drive on the street?"
"Because this is your first time driving a car by yourself!"
"No it's not!"
"Phillip, pushing around a tiny toy car with your paw doesn't count."
"Fine....one time on the sidewalk and then I moving to the street with the 'Big Boys'."
"Good, so first you...."
"Blah, blah, blah....we are losing light! I am out of here!"
"Wait, Phillip.....we didn't get to the part on how to brake!"
"You mean there's no ppppaaaarrraaaccchhhuuuttteeee?"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
So The kid is thirteen, so it was time for her first drive, moving from race karts to real cars. I let her take the track car out at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway to learn how to drive a car and how to use a manual transmission. She had a blast. By the end of the weekend she took a Championship winning Lotus Cup Car out for a drive.
i had a long day.

Another sedan which was not sold in the NL.
Together with it's brother, the Citroën C-Élysée, sold very well in Poland. They are litarly everywhere. Lots of them are in use as a taxi, drivinglessons-cars or company-cars.
The Peugeot 301 is built in Spain, Turkey, China and Nigeria. Together with the Citroën C-Élysée.
Both are sold in Eastern-Europe, but the Citroën C-Élysée is also sold in France, Germany and Italy.
But still, the 301 sells a bit better.

M.I.A: Swagger Like Us (Feat. Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne, T.I)
Wanted the back lights to come all the way over, but of course, you never do know what the LP is going to turn out like until it's complete. I would have preferred the blue stream at the front not to be there. Like the focus on this one; managed to focus it at the right point (that was all me !) I need to clean the soles; they are dirty and on some of my other shots from tonight it shows up. Will have to give them a wipe over before they make a full-er appearance.
I almost forgot to say that I received an unconditional offer from UCLan to study American Studies today. I didn't want to check (the email from UCAS says, "the status of your application has changed") but I did and it was unconditional so I was pretty damn happy. I have to tell them I want to defer for a year due to my upcoming trip to NJ, so hopefully they'll let me start in 2010..
I have my rescheduled driving lesson tomorrow at 1330. We're going to try to fit one in sometime this weekend (I have a really busy weekend this weekend, so I don't know how it's going to work out) If I remember rightly, I'm doing dual carriageways and emergency stops tomorrow.. Wish Me Luck !

It Was (Almost) Curtains But It's (All) In The (Air)Bag(s) - IMRAN™
In the previous chapter of this story, I wrote about how one, well, two actually, moments of people not looking over their shoulders while driving led to a lifelong struggle with chronic neck pain and spasms for me.
In 2003, my solid as a German tank S-class Mercedes AMG was totaled by an uninsured son-of-swine drunk-driver smashing into me. He was doing 80 mph in a 30 mph residential zone driving a Ford Explorer at 4 AM, after leaving a bar he had been drinking at all night.
The impact pushed my car into a tree after hopping over a curb. The drunk swine went through a green belt, through a fence, through a front yard, and into a family’s living room.
It was 4 am and the room was empty or he would’ve killed someone watching TV there. It’s people like him that I have no compunction wishing an early end for before they hurt or kill others.
Even worse shame, despite his doing this, he was not even put in prison by the NY state courts. He was fined merely $500. Who wants to bet $500 the scumbag did not stop driving drunk.
As you can see from the photo taken in the total-loss car a few days later, five of the eight airbags in my car went off from the impact. The rims were shredded, the tyres burst, but the crumple zones did their work. These are among the many reasons I am a lifelong Mercedes-Benz lover by the grace of God.
So, I would take the need to have surgery 20-40 years after not getting killed or maimed in these accidents as a blessing. "Another true miracle" is how I saw each one of these events as, not even counting half-a-dozen other times when I was a sure goner in other life incidents.
Thanks to the Almighty, I am still here, and so grateful for every blessing, and love from each and all of you. Prayers always appreciated for the miracles to continue.

My drivinglesson got canceled so I was up early and behind my computer.
This is usually how I work, Wacom tablet in front of me, keyboard on the tablet and a cat inbetween, telling me what to do, which brushes to use, what colors are cool and when to use the dodge and burn tool. Occasionally the cat takes a break and hunts after the mousepointer
TOTW: Alter-Ego
Everyone thinks I'm such a great photgrapher/photoshop wizard but I'm actually a puppet for my cat's imagination. The only reason he doesn't do it himself is because he doesn't have oposable thumbs. He doesn't mind...
Don't Look Back, But Always Look Over Your Shoulder - IMRAN™
As I had written earlier, multiple traumas over 30 years added up to literally be a pain in the neck. It started with my being T-boned (no pun intended) as a passenger on a motorcycle hit by another motorcycle at 18, just at the start of my Engineering University studies in Lahore. I was riding behind my friend Naeem Safdar on The Mall road in Lahore. It was 2 AM in 1980 with no traffic visible.
We were with another pair of friends on their bike. When those guys unexpectedly did a U-turn just past Pakistan State Guest House, Lahore Naeem quickly turned. But he did so without looking over his shoulder-- even as he said to look behind if anyone was coming.
Too late. Before I could look over or say anything, an unrelated couple of guys going like 80 mph suddenly saw us turn too late to stop. Naeem's right leg was shattered from the impact.
The other driver flew past us between us, scarping his whole face on the road surface from not wearing a helmet. That guy's passenger flew straight into my neck like an NFL player - with neither of us having any head or body protection.
By the grace of God,I did not break anything. However, the sudden total twist of the head and neck into my shoulder started the discs and vertebrae damage. But, hey, to me it was a miracle to have lived so far without breaking anything.
Later several such traumas over the next three decades made things worse. None broke anything, so insurance companies wiggled out of it but the damage and deterioration continued and accelerated.
One such accident was in 2000. I was a passenger in a rental Ford Taurus. I had told the girl driving that car just the previous night that her habit of changing lanes without looking over her shoulder was very dangerous. She made light of it.
On a California freeway she took the exit lane, then suddenly changed her mind, and got back onto the main expressway lane. Yes, again in this case, she did so without looking over her shoulder. Boom! A speeding car behind us in that lane struck us on the left rear passenger side where I was sitting.
We spun across 4 lanes of a California expressway. We ended in a ditch next to the opposite lanes of traffic. We barely avoided being smashed to pieces by an 18-wheeler.
Despite that whiplash injury, nothing was broken so I am gratfeul to this day. Plus, not being crushed by the 18-wheeler made me consider it yet another miracle.
So, I do not look back on my life with any regrets. But I never forget the miracles that kept and keep me alive. I do tell people, don't look back... but always look over your shoulder!
Back then, in that 2000 accident era, most cell phones did not have cameras. That is why I do not have any photos of the shattered Ford Taurus that we all fortunately walked away from.
This photo is from exactly 20 years ago, the fall of 2003. It is from another traumatic experience a few years later -- which I will share the story of later. Thank you for the love and prayers, always.

Too Dark? Sort of like the silhouette thing. As per usual for me.
Thought I'd give the sunset a break today, and post up some old light paintings for the light junkies amongst us. It's summer, and it's a lot more difficult to light paint. Until we're staying up 'til all hours.
Had my third driving lesson today. Went pretty good i thought. Did roundabouts today. Hit the kerb a few times, but it was good. I'm enjoying myself. On Tuesday, we're going to the other end of where I live, and getting to 60mph and big roundabouts. Having difficulty with biting points, but getting there. It's so tiring to concentrate for the whole two hours. Especially when it's so warm too.
Nothing else to report, I'm mostly found driving and watching Wimbledon these days. Pretty good life. Dementieva deserved to win today. She played brilliantly. I felt so sad for her. Also, Safina. She may as well have sat and watched. Bad Times. Another all Williams Final. Rooting for Murray and Federer tomorrow. Federer is my man. Or at least one of them

Trainee traffic officers of Manchester and Salford Police share a joke during a break while on a police driving course.
Typically a police instructor would supervise three pupils, who took turns at the wheel during drives across the region. In this case they appear to have arrived at what seems to be the seaside in time to open their flasks of tea.
The Manchester and Salford force existed between 1968 and 1974.

Grand Central Terminal Tour (Fridays, 12:30pm)
Kayaking on The Hudson (Daily, 9am - 6pm)
Free Bike Fridays (Fridays, 1 Hour)
