This is the Wedding Reception Invite for my BFF......my 2nd oldest friend....who was married on New Years Day in Vegas....by Elvis.....uh huh...

Came home very late last night, tired but wanted to make my drawing.
After drawing with pencils I started to pour coffee & redwine over the paper, brushed & rubbed with hand. It nearly destroyed.
Then I went to sleep at 2 a.m. and was up at 6 again.
"Draht und Schatten" Wire and shadow. My friend and fellow artist Armin Rohr opened a lecture on drawing with a wire.
Brilliant.
nothing is real.. nothing to write home about. sustained by a day dream from long ago, but it's alright, everything is fine. ( a version of the Beetles, Strawberry fields plays in my mind, and I see the Oregon coast, mixed with memories from running around in-lets in Washington state. And I drink my locally brewed Georgia / SC beers and compare them to Rouge and Fish-tail ales.. and draw this, madrone and steelhead cartoon. "I need green", I say, but nobody at the bar has a green pen or is listening.

One of the great great pictures of Edward Hopper. It seems realistic and representational, so much, you don't realize the mistake in the shape of the light area (the diagonal line on the wall is the horizontal part of the doorway, so the corner on the floor is wrong)
I love that, it's a brilliant mistake.
