Again!

The annual Dalek fest (better known as Brighton Modelworld) is well underway

The Dr. Who exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery is well worth a visit. Of particular interest to me were the numerous examples of pre vis material on display. Lots of examples of storyboards and research materials for sets costumes and of course monsters. The show is great for kids but infants might find it a bit too scary. Particular highlights were the Cybermen and Dalek exhibits which were really interactive and very well done. Good to see these up close. Lots of ideas for halloween costumes from the monsters! Recommended, finishes on 4 Jan 2010.

My husband's Christmas present in 2008: a handknitted dalek, stuffed with wool and with a heavy brass Enron souvenir coaster as a base. Jamie and Adam are unimpressed by the technical magnificence of my knitting.

Continuing my theme of Making Props From Things I Already Own--as opposed to, y'know, buying stuff--I present a reasonable facsimile of the Sonic Blaster from DOCTOR WHO.

Yes, I know the handle is wrong. But it looks fine when I hold it, so I'm not worrying.

Of which I was part. I still haven't the foggiest notion who the female Fifth Doctor is looking at me though.

While using an assortment of coloured papers for cut n paste, I have to say that the Stillman and Birns Zeta series has been brilliant for the ornaments that are just drawn. They are thick enough to literally stand up ( the figures are 27cm tall) but the paper allows for ease of cutting and doesn't warp or curl.

Dalek 1st Mock Up (Stack Up)

Cardiff, home of the Daleks! Terry Nation, the imagination behind the Daleks was born here, so it seems fitting that the BBC is now filming Dr Who here. Meet the Daleks at the 'Dr Who Experience' in Cardiff Bay! www.doctorwhoexperience.com/index.html
